Simferopol, Ukraine (CNN) -- [Breaking News Update, 10:02 a.m. ET] (CNN) -- Russia's upper house of parliament voted Saturday to approve the use of military force in Ukraine. The vote was unanimous.

[Original Story, published 9:23 a.m. ET]

(CNN) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has asked the upper house of parliament for approval to send Russian troops into Ukraine's Crimea region to normalize the political situation there, the Kremlin said Saturday.

Due to the "extraordinary situation in Ukraine," Putin said, there are threats to the lives of Russian citizens and Russian military personnel based in the southern Crimean region.

It comes on the same day that the new pro-Russian leader of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, asked Putin for help in maintaining peace in the Black Sea peninsula -- where Russia has a major naval base at Sevastopol.

....”Putin replied that he was concerned about “provocative criminal” actions by far rightists sanctioned by the Ukrainian authorities”....

He’s right to be concerned about that....and nation leaders don’t want more bloodshed and uprisings there...Putin has secured and is securing the nation.....we certainly can’t and neither can Europe. They’ll figure the details all in good time...the idea is to secure the nation from civil war breaking out among the people now that there is at least a temporary administration.

....”is the biggest crisis in world affairs since the invasion of Kuwait”.....

I don’t think so crosslink....the International Leadership wants Ukraine secured from what was seen in the last few months among the people. They out the Pres. so who else could have secured the country as the “wind” of Russians and Ukrainians simmered and could errupt with the Pres. gone.

Keep in mind the “overlord” of Chimea called on Putin to secure the area there.....no different then when the US is called to secure nations they are allied with.

Well now......sounds like a replay of Syria....It's natural for nations to withdraw Ambassadors..it's political “language”.....but there is a big difference....Turkey has already met with Ukrainian temporary leadership. Putin will prevent another Syria debacle....and the International Leaders will support him to curtail that.

Ukraine’s Navy refuses orders from Kiev, defects to Russia
Saturday, 01 March 2014

Ukraine’s Navy flagship, the Hetman Sahaidachny frigate, has reportedly refused to follow orders from Kiev, and come over to Russia’s side and is returning home after taking part in NATO operation in the Gulf of Aden flying the Russian naval flag.

There has been conflicting information on where exactly the vessel is, but a Russian senator has confirmed to Izvestia daily that the frigate defected to the Russian side.
