Yup. Most of us would have worked out a deal between the prosecutor, defense attorney and defendant in a hallway outside the courtroom.

2 minutes in front of a judge to walk away with probation and a fine.

I might be wrong about this, but I believe the prosecutor refused to cut a deal because anything less than a full-blown prosecution would have been seen as an accommodation for a person with political connections.

I wouldn't have wanted to be the prosecutor in this case. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

What I found interesting about this case is that everyone knew she was Kerry Kennedy, but most media reports I read never mentioned that she was the ex-wife of Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
