"He refused to say whether or not McConnell should remain leader of the Senate Republicans, saying that decision was up to the conference but that he "strongly disagreed with some of the decisions Republican leadership has made in the last year," and wouldn't say whether he planned to vote for Cornyn in his primary against Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas). Early voting has begun for that primary."

I think that the between the lines translation of this is that Cruz did not want to in any way help John Cornyn get reelected.

Without Cruz's endorsement, Cornyn may be forced into a runoff next Tuesday and then can be removed from the ballot in May.

Cruz knows that the senate republicans need new leadership, and he's doing what he can, very shrewdly, to make that happen.

Cruz is nothing more than an egotist and self centered politician who is only concerned about himself.

Emphasis on “shrewd”. Cruz picks his battles in this case. Why take on McConnell forces, at this particular time, over a contested senate leadership battle when doing so would telegraph the presumption that McConnell will be re-elected?

“To be clear, it was Republican leadership that was looking to throw Republicans under the bus.”

Maybe ORAG is a Republican leader?

Many on FR post that Dems are afraid of such and such a person as a GOP candidate.

This kind of article has the GOPelites shaking in their boots. They will be trying to conjure up more ways to try to discredit Cruz in the coming months.
