CPAC un-invites American Atheists
Politico ^ | 02/25/2014 | NATALIE VILLACORTA

The Conservative Political Action Conference has rescinded its permission for American Atheists, a nonprofit that protects the civil rights of atheists, to sponsor an information booth at the conservative gathering next month.

“American Atheists misrepresented itself about their willingness to engage in positive dialogue and work together to promote limited government,” said CPAC spokesperson Meghan Snyder in an email.

(snip)

But revoking American Atheists’ booth wasn’t enough to appease some conservative groups angered by the invitation itself.

Media Research Center President Brent Bozell said that revoking the booth “makes no difference” and is urging all conservative groups to withdraw entirely from CPAC.

“American Atheists is an organization devoted to the hatred of God. How on earth could CPAC, or the ACU and its board of directors, and Al Cardenas condone such an atrocity?” Bozell said in a statement.

Couldn’t agree more. There is a trend toward RINOism and “acceptance” and “tolerance” from CPAC that’s unnacceptible. We need some form of purity somewhere!

Atheists, in general, are militant, anti-Christian. Atheism is a religion to atheists.

Good.

That isn’t because I have a problem with atheists. There are plenty of good solid FReeper atheists and agnostics but these groups trying to infect CPAC are not conservative.

Liberals are using it.

My militant hard left lesbian cousin recently announced that she’s GOP proud along with a whole bunch of her lesbian friends. She’s in Texas working for the Wendy Davis campaign now.

“American Atheists is an organization devoted to the hatred of God”

Uh... how do you hate something you supposedly don’t believe exists?

Not sure how you can be a conservative and be an atheist. Conservative principles have their roots in a belief in God.

I am ashamed that CPAC would even consider inviting people who hate God as a participant in their event.

You’re kidding right? Atheist groups, as one wag put it, have basically one slogan: “There is no God and I hate Him.”

If they didn’t pull out after Christie got his invitation to speak, then there is no hope.

That is utter nonsense. Man has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness whether he was created by a god or not. I am an atheist and you would be hard pressed to find anyone more conservative. I believe in a strong, objective moral code and I can tell you why without saying because god says so. Conservative principle have their root in a belief in limited government, individual rights, capitalism and personal responsibility. No belief in gods is needed for those.

It’s more about this specific group. This group is headed (and that’s the guy who wanted to run the booth) by a slimeball who attacks and smears Christians at every turn, wants laws passed preventing them from participating in public life, and even after his invite, attacked Christianity again.

Why does man have a right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness if he were not created by God?

These basic rights could not be unalienable if they come from government or any man. Our founding document rightly states that it is because these rights, among others, come from God that they are unalienable.

This appears to be a new leftist tactic. Claim to be conservative and force their way into the GOP to destroy it from within.

My militant hard left lesbian cousin is now claiming to be a republican but she’s in Texas working for the Wendy Davis campaign.

I don’t care about her working for the Davis campaign, I’m more concerned about the fact that they’ve figured out how to manipulate the frightened bunny party into pandering to them.

Rights come from the law of identity. Whether or not man was created by a god or is the result of eternal natural laws it does not make a difference. The founding fathers got it right when they said inalienable rights. Rights are absolutes and if men are to live together then each man must hold them as absolutes so that is why men have a right to life. All other rights come after that one or there is no point to rights.

In my opinion the founders made an error when they tied rights to a creator but it is still irrelevant because inalienable means unable to be separated from which means rights are intrinsic to man and primary to the question of who created the universe. They are what they are regardless.
