Now that Karen Willmus can get health insurance through Obamacare, she plans to quit teaching 9th grade English at the end of the school year.
The 51-year-old found policies on the Colorado state exchange for about $300 a month. That's less than what she's paying now for employer-sponsored coverage and less than half what she paid on the individual market in 2007.

She hasn’t started the business yet, and we’re already destroying her business “plan”.

How does a guy who is 57 retire when he has no income. What’s he going to live on. I doubt grocery clerk has paid him enough to support himself for the next 9 years until he can get SS.
On a side note, if that woman is 51, then I’m 21.
The whole article is full of half truths.

What is her deductible? And after the deductible, what percentage of costs does her policy cover?

The comments at the article are quite good. I'm reading mostly garbage posts by liberal scumbags. One is some jackass called canuck. Yeah, we need lessons in economics from a canadian.

One would think that as a teacher, she would use her summer and liberal vacation time during the year to prepare and launch her business before quitting her job.
I find it hard to believe that health benefits was the only thing forcing her into the salt mines...errr...classroom year after year.

Based on the Colorado connect for health website, the plans that cost $300 per month for a 51 year old person have a $5000 deductible, and 30% coinsurance after that. They also appear to allow providers to balance bill the patient. There is a $6350 out of pocket limit per person.
So before the insurance pays for anything other than the mandated tests, Ms. Willmus will have to pay out $5,000 in addition to whatever premiums she pays before the claim occurs.
There is no out of network coverage, except for emergency room care or transport, so in the event she needs to see a specialist outside of her network she's uninsured. Instead of the old limits on coverage, she'll have none at all when she needs it most.
Every teacher's union health insurance plan I have ever seen has much lower deductibles, and much better coverage than what Ms. Willmus has signed up for.

But, hey...it only costs $300 a month, right? ;-)
But seriously, folks...both this lady and her daughter look kinda weird. Like Mom's a complete dimbulb and the daughter, who couldn't be mistaken a Phi Beta Kappa, either, forgot to put on her Goth makeup before the picture session.
Mother Nature surely dealt these two a sorry hand, for certain.

Starting up her own company, something about language ed. Hmm. Wonder if her brand spanking new company is set up to take gov’t contracts. I’ll bet the farm that it is.

YIKES!! 51 and looks like that? I have two 64 year old female cousins that look like beauty queens next to her. The one that lives less than a mile from me, looks like she is in her mid or late 40s.

No doubt she will qualify for subsidies. Why are taxpayers obligated to support everyone who wants to pursue some dream? Just think how many under-appreciated artists, musicians, and Bohemians of all stripes will be lining up at the trough.

First they tell you that the reason your policy is being cancelled is because it was crap and didn’t qualify. Now they are saying that this crap was the reason you couldn’t leave your job.
