Anne Coulter: 'Shysters' who attack 'establishment' GOP risk control of Senate
Examiner.com ^ | February 20, 2014 | David W. Thornton

Posted on 02/20/2014 11:54:30 AM PST by SoConPubbie

On Sean Hannity’s Fox News show on February 19, guest Anne Coulter and Hannity got into a heated discussion about the nature of the Tea Party on its fifth anniversary. While both are Tea Party supporters, Coulter differentiated between “people in America who call themselves Tea Partiers [who] are fantastic” and the “con men and scamsters” who “trick good Americans into sending them money, claiming we are fighting for you and they aren’t fighting for you.”

“Basically anyone who claims to be going after establishment Republicans, the key word there is ‘Republican,’” Coulter said. “If we don’t elect Republicans, I don’t care which Republican, we will not repeal Obamacare.” She continued, “The only way to repeal Obamacare is to elect Republicans. It is not to be fighting against Republicans.”

Coulter said that everyone has “got to read” Thomas Sowell’s column, “Cruz Control,” published on Feb. 18, in which the prominent conservative economist and author criticizes Ted Cruz for weakening the Republican Party in order to remake it as a more pure conservative party in the long term. Sowell argues that such a strategy may bring America past the point of no return with respect to both Obamacare and the larger erosion of personal freedoms. She also pointed out that groups that attack Republicans would face less media scrutiny than groups that attack Democrats.

. . . .

When Hannity asked why the Republicans could not force the issue on the Keystone pipeline, the debt ceiling, and a host of other issues, and implied that the GOP had given up the fight, Coulter replied, “Fight to give them a majority then we will repeal Obamacare and have the keys to the pipeline.”

regardless of one’s opinion of the conservative purity of the choices offered.

So, you are saying to vote for the liberal republican if the only other choice is a liberal democrat.

“Exactly what has McConnell done for the country over the last 30 years?”

Ann needs to understand that the biggest shysters in the Republican party ARE the establishment Republicans.

If Romney had won, things would be vastly different in this country.

The problem with this line of reasoning is that the status quo has brought us to the point where we got Obamacare and the current erosion of personal freedoms. If we don’t change the status quo, we can only expect more of the same.

Without a doubt. I had many problems with Romney, but he would have known how to get the economy up and running again.

Instead of a very successful businessman, we elected a petulant community activist.

"...to vote for the most conservative choice in both the primary and general election..."

Some RINOs need to be put down, even in the General, as an example for the others.

McConnell is No. 1 on that list.

Yes, I remember Bush II and the GOP Congress smiling and rubbing their hands together over ‘Comprehensive Immigration reform’.

And yes, it took screaming and melting the DC Capitol switchboards to get their attention.

Anne Coulter is following the folly of Sowell. She was also a fervent Romney supporter.

Anne has caught Potomac Fever and is exhibiting Beltway Bipolar Syndrome.

Yes; there is a higher probability of a liberal republican voting to support a conservative agenda than a liberal democrat. If you don't like the liberal Republican than the primary is the time to dump the Rino. 0bama and his communist minions are the real enemies.

Step one in advancing a conservative agenda: decrease the number of liberal democrats in the government.

Step two: decrease the number of liberal republicans in the government.

We must accomplish step one before step two becomes a priority.

You have it backwards. The liberal republicans just lifted the cap on government borrowing, and are pushing amnesty. They have to go first.

And I won't vote for any liberal. Ever. Lots of folks feel the same.

But it's good to know that you are honest about pushing liberal republicans.

Sowell and Coulter oppose amnesty.

They should want a in-fight.

Obama will veto every Obamacare bill and then will sign the McConnell-Boehner Comprehensive Bill. It would be good if some of House Leadership lost their seats. And some of the idiots like Kinzinger and Ellmers. They’ll still have 225 plus seats based on gains elsewhere.

Shutting down the government was actually a good way of stopping amnesty. Also getting Harry Reid to admit he didn’t care about kids with cancer.

Translation:The Tea Parties did it. Not only had they threatened establishment Republicans with primary opposition, but they had actually beaten one ... two ... three of them. Nothing like fresh heads on pikes to, er, reinforce a persuasive (to my mind) policy argument. Score one for losing Delaware Tea Partier Christine O’Donnell, who knocked off establishment pick Rep. Mike Castle (who voted for DREAM) in the GOP primary. Even score one for Alaskan Joe Miller. He probably alienated Republican Lisa Murkowski by beating her in the primary, and ultimately she won reelection anyway as a write-in. But that’s just one lost Senate vote. By my count, Miller’s primary coup may have helped gain around ten votes by terrifying GOP incumbents who might otherwise have been tempted by the prospect of a feel-good, bipartisan, MSM-approved pro-DREAM stand.

Just a reply to everyone in general.

Coulter’s point is that the country is in immediate danger of being steamrolled by something much worse than liberal republicans. While we are busy trying to change the “status quo”, we may lose the country in a way that is much, much worse than Rinos in D.C. Thomas Sowell related this to the Nazis in Germany. The majority was split, allowing the Nazis to take power and do their worst. The change in status quo may have to wait in order to put the brakes on the Dems, or we may reach a point of no return. And at that point, there won’t be any Republican party or Tea Party.

One thing Democrats have always been good at is biding their time. Coulter and Sowell are just saying that we need to be practical and get our priorities straight.
