Our ever so helpful government has decided that your wood burning stove is now a danger to the world. In another attempt to outlaw the off grid lifestyle, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the same agency that was recently caught using drones to spy on Americans, is now going after home owners who use Wood Burning Stoves to heat their homes.
Shortly after the re-election of President Obama, the agency announced new radical environmental regulations that threaten to effect people who live off the grid. The EPAs new environmental regulations reduce the amount of airborne fine-particle matter from 15 micrograms to 12 micrograms per cubic meter of air.
This means that most wood burning stoves would now fall into a class that would deemed unacceptable under these new draconian measures. The EPA has even launched a nifty new website called burn wise to try to sway public opinion.
On their site, while trying to convince people to get rid of their old stoves and buy the new EPA-certified stoves, they state that these older stove must be scraped and cannot be resold.
From the EPA Site:
The local air pollution agency says I cant sell my old wood stove to help pay for an EPA-certified wood stove. Why is that? Replacing an older stove with a cleaner-burning stove will not improve air quality if the older stove is reused somewhere else. For this reason, wood stove change out programs usually require older stoves to be destroyed and recycled as scrap metal, or rendered inoperable.
Lets hope this doesnt fall under the jurisdiction of the newly created Department of Homeland Security Environmental Justice Units? The next thing you know we might all be getting a knock at the door
.. Your Neighbor reported that you might be burning some wood, do you mind if we take a look around?
But now there's the NSA...
My outdoor central boiler will burn anything. I stack the new on top of the burning, and by the time its turn comes around, it’s dried out.
I’d have a backup supply of coal if anyone in our area still sold it. Wish I was living on a seam of it. :>)

“On the 23d of June 1775 Gen Bayley prepared an address to the Northern Indians which is here given in full Newbury Coos June 23 1775.
The present war is only between the King and a part of the Lords and America. The Lords say all Americans shall become slaves or servants to them shall plow no more than they say eat nor drink nor war nor hunt but only by their leave shall not kill deer, moose, beaver, or any other thing but by their consent.
Americans say they will and that the King by the Lords advice has sent redcoats to kill us if we will not be subject to what they say.
And we have thirty thousand men with guns great and small to fight in our defense; we only want to live as we have lived here to fore We do not want to fight if they would let us alone.”p73
Since Obama EPA Brain Cells weigh less than a nanogram, all of them can be collected used to power one village idiot in the president's chair.
I think we need to outlaw cities. We need a study into how a city is the cause of large carbon footprints and pollution. No more cities allowed. /sarc?
“I view great cities as pestilential to the morals, the health, and the liberties of man.”
Thomas Jefferson
You make a great point. Outlaw cities. I’m betting there’s far more waste than those of us in rural flyover country. We can’t afford to waste. I watched a guy on TV buy a 700 square foot apartment for half a million dollars. Now that’s waste.
We laugh at that kind of foolishness out here.
Throw in a little pot, or maybe incense into your stove.
The new smoke smell will fit right in.
Problem solved.
When I used to heat with a wood burning stove the only problem was how to keep the house warm without it being overheated. It was great in really cold weather but when it was forty degrees outside you had a tough time keeping the fire burning without getting too hot.
So all those liberals in Maine and Minnesota, Wisconsin and Washington are going to have to spend a bit to upgrade. (Sorry for all you freepers in those areas)
I know someone who once did that and used salvaged automobile radiators for room heaters, one in a corner of each room with a fan behind the radiator. He built wood cabinets to hold the fans and radiators and had a thermostat to set the heat just like any central heating unit. It furnished hot water as well as heat.
“Basterds” is correct.
One of the few pleasures a country affords even its poorest, a right to huddle around a campfire or old stove, snatched away..
Mainstream media.. Cchimes in.
Uh HUHH UH HUHHH

Shakes my head at the climate state of things in way too many folks minds.
Liberties and freedoms are meaningless, family bonds, who needs them? GUbamint is PaPa.
The verminous Left and their GanGreen cohorts know best ..
Let us toss ashes on their graves from our potbelly stoves
And not forget Valley Forge, Bastogne,
And keep the fires alive , of freedom.
LOL!
I don't need me a government big daddy. I just want them to leave me alone.
Blood simple.
And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security EPA operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest confiscate a wood burning stove, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?
I see what you did there.
The Soviets used power as a weapon: Fail to obey, they shut off power. Wood burning stoves negate their desire to control using heat.
One of obama’s payoffs to the power companies (electric) for their support.
