I couldn’t believe the part in the video where the reporter asked the black boy if having straight A’s makes him smart, and then laughed at him. I thought she was going to accuse him of “trying to act white” any second.
I would have given anything if the boy had been able to blast her back with “Getting straight A’s doesn’t make me smart, being smart makes me get straight A’s”
The correct response is “no I am not smart because I make good grades I make good grades because I am smart.” This should be followed by a pitying shake of the head.
