Attorney General Eric Holder, long besieged by accusations of corruption and outright felonious behavior, has stated that he may step down in 2014 as the nations top alleged law enforcer.
In an article with the New Yorkers Jeffrey Toobin, Holder admitted that he intends to stay well into 2014, but in doing so, has once again fueled speculation that the Attorney General will be stepping down by years end. The Justice Department has worked to downplay the rumors and Justice Department spokesman Brian Fallon tweeted, Actually, most he said was he planned to stay well into 14.
However, it seems that whether Holder is gone tomorrow or several months later, the fact remains that it appears that the scandal-ridden Attorney General is looking for the door- news that is sure to delight conservatives and others who favor officials abiding by the law.
Holder has been held in contempt of Congress for his role in the Fast and Furious scandal which left weapons in the hands of Mexican drug cartels and one border patrol agent, Brian Terry, dead. The contempt charge stems from Holders unwillingness to cooperate in the investigation before being cloaked in a flimsy pretense of executive privilege.
Holders Justice Department has been linked to corruption from the moment Holder entered the office. One of the first acts by the new Attorney General was to drop the case of two Black Panthers who intimidated white voters outside a voting station in Philadelphia in the 2008 presidential election. Holders Justice Department dropped the case during the sentencing phase.
It has been a rocky ride for Holder, but an even rockier ride for Americans who, perhaps naively, looked to the Attorney General to uphold the rule of law in America.
BTTT!
Between now and January of 2015 an impeachment trial would require guilty votes from 22 Democrats. It takes 67 guilty votes in the Senate for an impeachment conviction and removal from office.
I doubt that the Republican leadership could hold the Senate RINOs on impeachment.
Only if no one worse can be found.
Most Americans are held accountable for even minor crimes, while most politicians and appointees are not held accountable for major crimes.
It’s mostly because of policy that holds we average schmucks accountable, while elites are not, that I strongly favor accountable over political immunity, but that is just me. To be honest I’d like to see our gallows being used to maximum capacity for elites and political corruption. When it comes to corruption, there is no partisanship.
Holder will not step down he has to much power and that is what these black criminals want is power over everyone..
If he did step down t would be because he knows it is getting to hot at the white house and sees not everyone loves his King Obama and there might be impeachment on the way.If that happens then Holder will be in a world of hurt from all the illegal things he has taken part in with his buddy Obama.
I always wish this for many politicians but it never happens.
Will believe it when I see it
More likely a case of him running and hiding.
“I would also not be surprised to see Senate Minority Whip, John Cornyn vote to confirm him for that office.”
.......and then, call it a “courageous act”.
Yep! He’s just like US, you know..... /sarc
“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?””Who watches the watchmen?”
Uh, nobody.
