I've heard a lot about "food deserts" -- areas in cities that have no supermarkets at all. I'm told it's a tragedy, and it's a sign of racism.

The reality is that some neighborhoods just feed on crime and no supermarket can survive in that environment.
Now it appears that the other side of the coin is that the racists who live in such neighborhoods are trying to chase all the white people away, and their food stores as well.

I shed no tears for the so-called "food deserts".

I know a man who is a pharmacist and ran a chain drugstore in a low income section of town. He was held up at gunpoint about every two months, for drugs and money, and his own employees stole about 3 thousand dollars worth of goods--every week. He got tired if pistols at his neck, finally called it quits, and the chain closed the store. Mighty were the howls of the race-baiters about "the people not being served.."

The” food desert” appears because a food store with a full range of foods does not suit the taste of the locals.

Its ok not to want white people. They would rather a blighted ghetto. Can`t lose that oppressed feeling. I`ve always wondered why wealthy blacks...say football players who are worshipped..don`t open stores in such places. You`d think rich black rappers would too. Waste of money perhaps? Maybe if everything in Trader Joes was free?

I found a food desert in the southwest side of Oklahoma City. I was staying there for a 3 week work trip in a hotel with a little kitchen and was trying to kick up my cuisine a notch with some good produce that the local Walmart couldn’t provide. That whole section of town is devoid of any decent grocery stores. The store that was recommended by hotel staff was worse than Walmart. I wasn’t looking for a Whole Foods, just some decent produce. That whole section of town is pretty run down, but it still makes you wonder where they shop.
