Sadly, this thread makes it pretty clear that many conservatives decry activist liberal government not out of some deeply-held constitutional principle, but rather because they want the big stick of government so they can assert control themselves.

Lol. Thanks for seeing the point I'm getting at. I was prepared to put on asbestos long johns but not for eager defense of autocracy.

Maybe some Conservatives realize that it’s an internal Russian matter and we should keep our noses out of it.

Before there are constitutional principles there are first principles. The advocacy of things that run contrary to the natural law should not be countenanced, on their face. Now, if one takes a relativist position then they are unable to make such distinctions. The Constitution is not the end all be all of Truth and it certainly isn’t a suicide pact.
