It is about minorities and immigrants, which is why she takes offense about remarks concerning "Illegal immigrants." The fact is that we take in 1.2 million LEGAL IMMIGRANTS A YEAR, 87% of whom are minorities as classified by the USG.

Sotomayor likes to present herself as an immigrant and an outsider, yet she was born a US citizen with all the rights and benefits that entails.

I wonder what her judgmental opinion would be with regards to those who, living outside of the United States, obey the proper laws?. Those who in applying and giving of their personal status and financial position, are doing the right thing. They often either get refused, or wait a long time in many instances.

On her part, this is sort of a tactic approval of law breakers of her own racial background.
