In a move that signals a great technological leap forward for the auto industry, the federal government announced Monday that it will take steps to require all new cars and light trucks to communicate with each other, with the hopes of drastically reducing the total of more than 30,000 vehicle deaths each year.
The technology, known as vehicle-to-vehicle or V2V, gives cars the ability to talk to each other and exchange safety data such as speed and position. Since 1 in 8 are here illegally, kicking illegals out would free up a lot of road space so there wouldn't need to be new roads.
I think if someone wanted to rebuild 20 year-old volvos, toyotas and fords to near showroom condition and sell them at a fair profit it would be a fine way to recycle and give people a choice to be untracked.
Until it starts malfunctioning and actually CAUSING 38 car pileups.
Same here. To reset the clock in my Jaguar I have to pull out the owners manual....so I just leave it alone and subtract an hour off the time.
Our Mercedes?! Forget about it.
I know exactly how this is going to work:
So many false alarms, people will pull the wire or fuse to the alarm noise maker. I know I would. I did this in the early days when cars made annoying buzzer noises for everything under the sun. Once they switched to pleasant chimes for various alerts, I didn’t mind so much.
A 100 dollar hook on the top of each car will fix the transportation system. A car breaks down, a helicopter comes, hooks up the car and tows it off the road.
A stupid idea but just as stupid as what the government is proposing.
I also plan to ride on the CAN bus :-)

That’s right about the clock, too!
