The demonstrations mobilized in Paris and Lyon grow in strength

By Les Echos | 02/02 | 1:13 p.m. | updated at 18:29

LDCs, GPA, gender theory and "fiscal overkill families" were the menu demands of protesters. In Paris, the organizers speak of 500,000 demonstrators, the police 80,000. In Lyon, of 20,000 to 40,000 protesters marched.

As the tradition requires, the battle of numbers looks tough at the parade held in Paris and Lyon on Sunday by the AKI group for all. "We were more than half a million" in Paris, jubilated the association, while the Parisian crowd was not dispersed by evoking a "pink and blue wave." The Prefecture of Police of Paris, in turn, advance a figure of 80,000 ... In Lyon, the difference is still less important: the police talking about 20,000 people, organizers of 40,000. However, these numberss give weight to advocates of a traditional view of the family, opponents of the supposed "gender theory" and what they consider the "familiphobic" government.

In Paris, the protesters started at 13:00. In a friendly atmosphere, without overflowing the barriers, they waved placards which were inscribed their departments or city of origin: Dordogne, Brittany, Parthenay, Normandy, Marcq-en Baroeul, Nimes. A hand-written banner said: "Family education, solidarity, dignity." The first slogans have blended "Holland, we do not want your law!" Or " Peillon resignation! ". One organizer told AFP that two bailiffs appointed TWA are present in the procession. On Saturday, Justice annulled the presence of bailiffs in the procession, fearing "number of arrests (...) be made blindly against honest citizens." Association then announced it has hired its own officers to "observe the good behavior "of the event.

In Lyon, the event began at 14:00 . Family came across the southeast quarter of France, between 20,000 and 40,000 people marched. More than 60 busses had been chartered to transport the protesters, according to organizers. Several banners which read "Lyon said no to the dictatorship of gender", gender, in English, to show that the fight is international, or "Daddy + Mommy, there is no better for a child," or "Two fathers, two mothers, children without markers "were planted on the front of the stage.

Girded their scarf, several elected officials, including members mayors UMP Caluire, Philippe Cochet, and Crest (Drôme), Hervé Mariton, marched at the head of the procession, behind a sound truck and a banner proclaiming "Brussels, leave our kids alone "(Brussels, leave our kids alone) in reference to Lunacek report to be discussed at the European Parliament on Tuesday. Twenty CRS were positioned upstream, but the police presence remained rather quiet.

"We are in France, freedom of conscience," or "Holland, we do not want your laws", chanted the demonstrators, while others waved placards saying "We are not sheep.""We want the jobs, no gay marriage," shouted for their share of opponents under a banner of the collective "Muslim Children". The procession went to the Hotel de Ville, via the banks of the Saône, before returning Place Bellecour where the dispersion was expected around 6:00 p.m., according to organizers.

Spearheading the opposition to gay marriage vote last year, the group wanted to raise tens of thousands of people against the family policy of the government and its majority. They suspect, despite the many denials, want to extend the medically assisted procreation (MAP) techniques to women couples during a parliamentary debate on the future family and legalize surrogacy (GPA) by the end of the 50-year period. "We do not want a law that deprives our children of father," said the Ludovine Rochère, president of the group.

Alberic Dumont, an official of collective organization, said the protesters also intended to protest against the "fiscal overkill families" and " gender theory that denies the otherness between men and women and now is being forced into offices and schools." The event takes place on Sunday after a heated controversy over a supposed teaching of this “gender theory" school, which led parents to refuse sending their children to school. On behalf of the "precautionary principle", Alberic Dumont has called for an end to the teaching of the "ABCD equal" experimented in primary classes to fight against stereotypes of girls to boys.

Present among the demonstrators, the UMP Henri Guaino accused the Interior Minister to describe "the strategy part of the left, which wants by all means, political divides, give rise to a core radicalized in order to weaken the opposition." The former adviser to Nicolas Sarkozy at the Elysee Palace said that the events marked "the rejection of this policy of systematic destruction of everything that allows us to live together, this fait accompli, say it almost blow the force in which we put everyone up against the wall under the pretext that the majority prevails."

Other UMP as Claude Goasguen and Philippe Gosselin , marched to Paris. Hervé Mariton appeared with three other colleagues among the demonstrators from all Southeast Lyon to scroll.

The National Front was also represented by elected in Paris, with the member Marion Marechal-Le Pen , and Lyon. Religious representatives, the Cardinal Philippe Barbarin and the rector of the Great Mosque of Lyon Kabtane Kamel , were in the forefront of the procession in the capital of the Gauls.

Frigide Barjot, the muse of the opposition movement to the Taubira law for gay marriage, chose not to participate in rallies, lamenting an "ideological radicalization" observed during recent demonstrations. .

On the PS side, its first secretary, Harlem Désir, denounced Sunday "manipulations and lies upon which a reactionary fringe trying to cement opposition to government policy, with the support of several irresponsible UMP parliamentarians." In a statement released while rallies "Manifestation for all" in Paris and Lyon were not completed, Mr. Desire felt that the protesters were marching "to the call of the agitators of fears and rumors," a " week after the manifestation of all the hatred." He also "denounced attacks a new time against the President of the Republic by some demonstrators."

Regarding the "AKI for all", he pointed out that gay marriage opponents protesting "against a law passed last eight months," which is "now the law of the Republic, a progress of equality" and "not possible to challenge." Mr. Desire stated that there was "no familiphobia in the government, but the desire to provide families of France, to all families, protection of the law." "All Republicans should remain mobilized to respond to provocations, lies and temptation of extremism. All Republicans must condemn those who attack the values and institutions of the Republic," he said.

Twelve militants of the extreme right GUD (Groupe Union Défense) student movement were arrested Sunday afternoon in Paris when they were about to join the ranks of AKI for All, said a spokesman of the prefecture Paris police. "There were fears they disturb" the event, does it added. Five other persons were arrested as a preventive measure.

An important safety feature has been implemented for events on Sunday, which mobilized 1,500 police in Paris and 600 in Lyon. After arduous negotiations with the police headquarters, an agreement was reached on the route of the parade in Paris, the Place de l'Ecole Militaire (seventh arrondissement) to Denfert-Rochereau (XIV).

- In the Sunday newspaper, Manuel Valls denounced the emergence of a "tea party of the French" and once again warned the organizers of protests against overflowing the barriers after the violence that followed the demonstrations last Sunday.

I don’t know why the US is so apathetic regarding that. The Tea Party seems like a real force when it comes to national debt and immigration, but the gay “marriage” does not seem to phase them.

I can think of one factor present in the French. They have a reputation of great tolerance as regards sexual behavior in general. So they have inoculated themselves against the chief rhetorical weapon of the gay lobby: that the aversion to homosexuality is simply desire to kill someone else’s pleasure. No one would accuse the French of being prudes. This national trait allowed them to focus on the real problem with gay lifestyle: destruction of family as parenting unit.
