The House would impeach Obama. The Senate would not convict and throw him out, but so what? If the House can show valid Constitutional power violations, then level the charges and impeach. Put it on record.
Valid Constitutional violations, by definition, cannot be spun by the media into something else (such as Clinton’s “all about sex”). They also can’t be seen as technicalities - they need to show damage done.
The problem is the Boehner’s lack of courage to protect, and/or interest in, the Constitution.
They have an special ops/artillery/air support we do not have.
The media, Academia and Hollywood.
It’s a wonder we ever win at all.
Also, it is expensive to own a car in Europe with taxes on everything including the price of gas.
Even from a purely political standpoint this makes no sense. None at all.
The Dumbocrats are on the ropes because of 0bamacare. If the GOP plays their cards right, they will wipe them out in both Houses and gain some genuine control.
If "immigration reform" is so important, why is it so important to do it this year? Why not wait until next year when you can get your own bill through both Houses without having to be bullied by Hairy Reid, agreeing to their agenda, and letting them get all the political credit just in time for the elections?
An added bonus to not doing it this year is you're not alienating your own base just before an election, threatening your own survival as a political party, your control of the House, and blowing a chance for massive victory in the Senate.
Like I say, it makes no sense whatsoever from any reasonable political, personal, or policy standpoint.
One would have to be dumber than a bag of hammers to do this - or on the take... or being massively blackmailed by "somebody".
We all know there aren't any adults left in the Donk Party. But aren't there at least a few in any leadership positions in the Stupid Party - or has the entire political establishment gone stark raving mad on loco weed and are intent on stampeding the entire country over the cliff along with themselves?
Good morning Cousin Mike,
It is, it really is, a life and death struggle. I’m not backing down.
Had articles in all the local newspapers about this local yokel Dem lady in Sussex county voting for more laws cause you can’t have enough laws, gotta pass laws or the elected masters get bored....laws, laws, laws.
Went to church this morning and lots of people coming up and patting me on the back, saw my articles cause...guess what?
NOBODY WANTS MORE LAWS!
It gets better, maybe more later.
We are well on our path to being a permanent minority party. Amnesty just hastens the process.
Border security is the same ole canard they have been using for decades. The trouble is, they never define exactly what ‘security’ is.
Recall when GWB promised to enforce border ‘security’ with 6,000 troops. Well, as it turned out, those 6k were cycled in for short-term tours in groups of a few hundred at a time. They were not allowed to even carry weapons and their primary duties were washing Border Control vehicles and doing paperwork.
Border security is about like cutting government spending. We’ll do border security over a period of years, after 30 million get legalized now. We will cut spending over a period of years, after we get a new spending now. Both have been called the Wimpy Burger Scam: I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.
Good Morning, sweet Clyde5445!
I am back from my very early trip to Kroger’s.
DrO hasn’t been well, so all his errands have fallen to me.
I’m learning to be a very good shopper... coupons and all...lol.
I’m right there with ya!
WAR IS PEACE, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY, and IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH, ...
I’m not convinced the repubs are going to go after amnesty this year in full force. Yer right about it being a bit stupid, why not wait and see if the senate becomes Repub, maybe the presidency? Why do this NOW and alienate the hell out of your base.
As I figure, the Republican party gets big bucks from businesses of various sorts. They like the cheap labor coming in from Mexico and for the right bucks, the pubs are going to push it. But the pubs know, don’t think they do not, that their base is adamantly against any kind of amnesty, we were for amnesty once before, we were promised it would never happen again, the borders would be secured.
This didn’t happen and now twenty plus years later why should we believe them?
Amnesty is an issue that will drive the masses to the streets, you just watch.
Pubs got to make up their minds, money from those who benefit from cheap labor or votes from those who elect them.
I double dare them and still think it won’t happen. Already Boehner’s waffling.
Another issue is voting. We cannot even get a reasonable measure like Voter ID to be the law of the land because some Leftist judge declares it discriminatory. And even if the law is allowed, it’s based on drivers license/state ID, which is what the Boehner/Ryan bill will give the lawbreakers...
Who thinks they won’t vote when La Raza comes to their front door with “persuasion” and bribes (paid for by democrat donors like George Soros)?
It’s nothing less than PERMANENT democratic party hegemony. The end of the American Republic.
He thought for a moment and said; "you know you have a point!
It's even worse with the hard left.
They are so intent on masking the truth about any energy except the approved windmills, solar panels etc.--stuff that won't work-- 24/7 and advancing their hard left agenda of destroying capitalism and promoting big govt. they can't /won't see any logic.
It's sad. Even the state dept. had to admit recently that the Keystone pipeline will do little in the way of harming the environment. So now its up to Jarrett/Podesta to sign up or keep delaying it possibly beyond the 2014 elections. Some things never "change"
Cousin Mike,
It might well be true that we....I refer to teabaggers here, might be in a minority but I assert we are a political faction and have as much a right to lobby for laws as do the homosexuals, the blacks, the Hispanics.
They have no right to make fun of us no more than they do the Gays.
I’m not backing down.
I’m with you. I will be watching Jack Ryan at the “Rave” here in Pensacola while the super brawl drones on and on and on selling four million dollar spots to any liberal who will buy into their flap.I really don’t care much about multi-cultural families, they do little for me.
Agreed.
Fat chance it would do any good.....and the riots would destroy all major cities. The GOP could do plenty if they had any backbone.
High sped rail was nixed in FLa. Gov. Scott, best Gov. we have had since Leroy Collins, has turned metro Charlie Crists’ 3.6 billion dollar deficit into a 900 million dollar surplus in three years! Libs can’t be too happy about that one.
"I don't think this is a good idea because citizenship is important, but I don't think it is a big deal breaker either," Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., a leading congressional advocate for overhauling U.S. immigration law, said in a speech last month. "Right now we have to stop the deportations that are breaking up families. And if we do not get citizenship this year, we will be back next year and the year after that."
While strong majorities of Hispanics continue to back a pathway to citizenship, a Pew Research Center poll last month found that being able to live and work in the U.S. legally without the threat of deportation was more important to Latinos by 55 percent to 35 percent.
The comprehensive immigration battle has been going on for 13 years.
In 2001, it was about to be passed when 9-11 happened. It got shelved. They tried again in 2002, but it was stopped on a ‘technicality’ by none other than Democrat Senator Robert Byrd. It was delayed until GWBush’s 2nd term. They tried twice in 2006 (IIRC) and it failed. They tried again in 2007, after GWB ‘got a Congress he could work with’ [i.e., he lost both the House and Senate to the Dems] and it failed again.
They tried again in Obama’s first term.
Now, they are pushing it again.
They have been trying from 2001 to 2014.
