Me too. Bonehead and Chinless are in agreement on driving the TEA Party out.
Addressing your Item 3: The Republican Party itself was founded in 1854, and elected its first President only 6 years later. Technically, you can say it took “years,” but if the TEA Party people had walked out when McQueeg was nominated to lose against Obastard, they’d have a Presidential candidate race worth talking about today. If they walked when Romney won in ‘12 by destroying, in collusion with the Press, every conservative to run against him, we’d have people running for the House and Senate today.
George Washington, in his farewell address, warned of exactly our current situation.
It’s Uniparty now.
Conservatism in the GOP is dead, except for a few poor schmucks attempting the impossible.
Only a real, energetic, boots-in-the-mud groundswell will change our situation. And time’s running out.
They don’t care.
They want the cheap (slave in some cases) labor. They don’t care about conservatives, because in their world view they don’t matter.
I heard Rush say that, yesterday, too...and I agree with him 100%. I also agree with you, that they will not succeed.
They're putting $$ and power over country. CORPORATIST TRAITORS!
“Theyre very well aware, they dont care.”
You’ve hit the nail on the head. The problem isn’t really the GOPe. It’s us. We’ve stood by while Republicans colluded with Democrats against us. Say what you will about the likes of McCain, for example, but he keeps getting reelected. Why in the world would he show any loyalty to us? That would be crazy. Why? Because he runs to the right six months out of every six years, then spends the other 5 1/2 years thumbing his nose at us, and he keeps getting reelected!
“$$s don’t get you elected. Votes do.”
Money typically buys access to voters, but I think you make a valid point. The Internet is making it much easier and probably significantly less expensive to reach potential voters. Expensive network and newspaper ad buys seem to be less effective. I think we’re entering an era where the big political war chests deliver much less bang for a buck.
Let me add:
What’s the point in electing Republicans if they act just like Democrats? Why should we elect a GOPe / RINO when they’ll agree to every piece of Democrat legislation to “get along with their friends across the aisle”?
Your first two options are not viable. The liberal/socialist control the levers of power in the party.
The third option is the only way but it would have to be done quickly and pull so much support from the GOP that is collapsed as a viable 2nd party within a couple of election cycles. If the new party accepts the GOP socialist trash within it’s ranks it will die quickly, those leftist scum need to be regulated to the democrats and not given air to breath in any new party. And the third option means the openly communist democrats would be in charge for several years inflicting more damage to the country.
The choices are not good but I am inclined for the new third party quickly replacing the GOP despite the additional damage. Because quite frankly I am done with the GOP they left me. Aside from Cruz and Rand Paul at times I do not feel like I have any representation in Washington period.
She misses the point: this is all by design. Once you cast aside the idea that there are two major political parties and accept that fact that there is but one uniparty with two cooperating factions, then it’s a lot easier to see the underlying logic.
“Theyre very well aware, they dont care.”
No only aware, but actively collaborating and facilitating.
“As I see it, conservatives, libertarians, and conservative-leaning independents have three choices:”
I see a fourth and a fifth besides. But let’s go over your list.
“1. Continue to hope the GOP will come to adopt and fight for traditional, conservative values and candidates.”
LOL! The gop faction of the uniparty is in full agreement with the ‘rat faction of the uniparty. Conservatism ain’t happening in the existing system.
“2. Work together to take control of the GOP and its resources and change the direction of the Party.”
Unlikely. The uniparty and their cronies will change the rules to make this very, very difficult to do. They have endless economic resources to preserve their hegemony.
“3. Leave and form a third party which will take years to develop sufficient size, scope, and resources to be able to have significant impact.”
Also unlikely. The uniparty has been marginalizing second parties for over 150 years now. They’re very, very good at it.
“That’s the conventional wisdom. Got any proof that it’s true? Any examples from history?”
Exhibit A: the Libertarian Party. Started in 1971. Has yet to win a governorship, US Senate seat or a seat in Congress. Still keeps on plugging away but has largely been a failure in the electoral realm. That’s not really why they exist, but viewed from strictly that perspective they’ve accomplished little.
“They are going to care when people tell them to go play in the traffic.”
Not really. They’ve already feathered their nests.
“There are several additional options that may be on the table.”
I can think of several. None of which involve more than a cursory involvement in electoral politics, which at this point is truly the road to perdition for conservatives.
“Term limits are starting to sound real good right now.”
They’re a good starting point but frankly it doesn’t change much when the uniparty has someone ready to take over whenever their term-limited darlings need to move on.
Maybe you consider writing your own open letter to the stupid party Im serious.
We need to flood those idiots with the wrath over this betrayal of liberty that everyone is feeling.
