Hillary's going to have to run against Benghazi, but I take your point. If she runs (not a certainty), and if she wins the nomination (also not a certainty), then any Republican male besides Ted Cruz is going to have a hard time beating her.
It would be far wiser for the GOP to run the most popular female on our bench, but we know they'll never get behind Palin. She'd have to fight the party elites to claim her place, and given the potential dynamics at work, they just might give in and accept her. Same as what happened with Reagan. They didn't want him either.
That's what I'm hoping will happen with Sarah. They will eventually realize the Wisdom of Palin.
