Parents, don’t let your girls grow up to be cheerleaders.
That’s just one lesson to be gleaned from a lawsuit filed by a cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders, a National Football League team, which alleges sub-minimum wage pay and other labor abuses.
While professional cheerleading may seem glamorous, the cheerleaders allegedly earn barely enough to afford their own pom-poms. And, by the way, if they forget their pom-poms, the cheerleaders are reportedly socked with a fine.

The Chargers stress that the role is a part-time job and that cheerleaders “should at least hold a part-time job or attend college part-time.”

When did cheerleading become a job??? Perhaps the money spent on boob jobs and nose jobs should have been invested in an education.
Well, at least it’s a better outcome for all those childhood ballet lessons than ending up in a nudie bar.

But then they wouldn’t have a chance to become F-A-M-O-U-S....which is the primary goal in the back of their minds when they go pro. I have a friend whose wife is the coordinator for a very well known NFL team. All those girls have stars in their eyes...
Considering the erotic dress, at a family event no less, they would fined years ago. At least they are evidence for special creation, but which degree of naked beauty should only be for their husbands to see.

I knew a Pats cheerleader. They were not allowed to fraternize with the players at all for that very reason. Also, the law suit that would follow.
Fyi, I am extremely disappointed in the amount of pictures on this thread. It is the only reason I clicked on it.
More stories like this on the back office operations of NFL teams would make for an ugly picture. From charity work in the concessions, to shoveling snow, to the interns paying to work, etc. At Walmart its the ugly face of capitalism, at the NFL its rah, rah, siss, boom bah. Of course, they have the right to run their business as they see fit, I just can’t believe that they do things, this way. Their business model depends on everyone loving them so much that others pay them to watch, cover, comment and build them free infrastructure for/on the product instead of the inverse as is the case at almost any other business.

Yeah, I think most do have real jobs that allow flexibility for time off for their cheerleading responsibilities. My perception, and it’s only a perception, is that the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders may have the best gig of the bunch. Seems they’re on tv a lot. Also, they do a annual calendar shoot, lots of charity events, etc, that generates revenue for them. And, they thereby get a bunch of exposure that can be used to transition to other entertainment endeavors. Anyway, I like cheerleaders, long live cheerleaders :)

Sue the damn high schools the had “drill teams” and the damn colleges that gave “dance” degrees! A job????? Get friggin’ serious! They are eye candy and they know it. But the picket lines during their strike could be fetching.
So these pro teams twisted these girls arms and forced them become cheerleaders? Maybe it’s a lousy job, but virtually everybody has a lousy job or two in their lives. That’s a good incentive to work harder and get something better.
