FORT WORTH Wendy Davis has made her personal story of struggle and success a centerpiece of her campaign to become the first Democrat elected governor of Texas in almost a quarter-century.
While her state Senate filibuster last year captured national attention, it is her biography a divorced teenage mother living in a trailer who earned her way to Harvard and political achievement that her team is using to attract voters and boost fundraising.
The basic elements of the narrative are true, but the full story of Davis life is more complicated, as often happens when public figures aim to define themselves. In the shorthand version that has developed, some facts have been blurred.

May the LORD deliver us from this woman!
Ah, so the “feminist icon” and savior of abortion “rights” and idol of the Girl Scouts of America got bailed out by marriage to a rich guy, was divorced because of adultery and turned away from raising her children...
Oh, ok, I get it...perfect libtard governor material.
From the article
“She did the right thing, he said. She said, I think youre right; youll make a good, nurturing father. While Ive been a good mother, its not a good time for me right now.
What kind of mother walks away from her child saying “It’s not a good time for me right now?”
That’s the line the Republicans need to highlight.
If there is that much election fraud in states with R governors and R Sec of State (or Commonwealth) then an impeachment movement should be started.
Soros failed in this SoS quest. Now we need to make Republicans accountable.
She can leave out what she wants to, and the people of TX will understand the “privacy issue”. Don’t be surprised if she loses, or if she wins. Thus far, Abbott is not taking off even one glove.
People in Fort Worth may go for her, and that’s our only Republican city left in Tx.
TEXAS DEMOCRAT COMMUNIST Wendy Davis IS ‘Abortion queen’
She is backed by the communist party and the Obama administration plus GEORGE SOROS..George backs any communist he knows they agree with what he stands for..
Watch it folks they afe trying to take over Texas now..They already have a queer communist as mayor of Houston.
As the late NY Senator Pat Moynihan put it: "boob bait for bubba" - tough-sounding legislation that doesn't actually have any teeth.
Romney was +16 in Texas in 2012 (and ahead of Cruz fwiw).
A Republican would have to be exceptionally lame to be 17 points worse than Romney, right?
Hey , Wendy, why not throw in the fact you are 1/32 Cherokee? That ought to work for you.
In his initial divorce filing, Jeff Davis said the marriage had failed, citing adultery on her part...
If she was a Republican candidate the press would dig up the boy-toy and trotted him through every media outlet in the state, but for Miss Golddigger that would be unseemly. Who was this interloper and what is HIS side of the story???
One day at the end of a meeting, [her father] asked [his employee], How do you like younger women? My daughter wants to go out with you, Jeff Davis said in an interview. I was flattered so I took her out. We dated two or three years, then got married. ...
After they married... they moved into a historic home in the Mistletoe Heights neighborhood of Fort Worth.... Jeff Davis paid for her final two years at TCU. ...
When she was accepted to Harvard Law School, Jeff Davis cashed in his 401(k) account and eventually took out a loan to pay for her final year there. I was making really good money then, well over six figures, he said. But when youve got someone at Harvard, youve got bills to pay, youve got two small kids. The economy itself was marginal. You do what you have to do, no big deal.....
In November 2003, Wendy Davis moved out. ... Jeff Davis said that was right around the time the final payment on their Harvard Law School loan was due. It was ironic, he said. I made the last payment, and it was the next day she left. ....
Dru was in ninth grade. Jeff Davis was awarded parental custody. Wendy Davis was ordered to pay $1,200 a month in child support. She did the right thing, he said. She said, I think youre right; youll make a good, nurturing father. While Ive been a good mother, its not a good time for me right now.....
What a wholesome sweetie pie that Wendy Davis is. I've seen and known more than a few women like Wendy over the years and the men and children they've left behind as they scrambled up the ladder.
I’ve watched Rove speak of “wedge issues” in some of his television appearances.
These emotional symbolic issues suck the voters in at election time for a big disappointment later on when they realize the folks they elected were giving them the shaft.
Obamacare has abortion and birth control in it, along with other left-leaning bells and whistles, but many O supporters have awakened to the fact it makes them pay more for insurance.
That’s because Obamacare is really about bailing out the health insurance industry.
........62% of Texans in a recent poll support SB5. “ABORTION”...........all by itself, will not get you elected to the Governors office in Texas. As the poll shows though, it can sure get you un-elected.
As she has been all her life, Wendy is desperate. Post 20 week abortion, more and more, is being seen for what it is. Namely, premeditated murder.
Bottom line, ABORTION, is the only horse the Dems and Wendy have in their corral to throw their saddle on.
“More importantly, this poll shows that banning abortion after 20 weeks of gestation one of the provisions of SB5 has the support of over 62 percent of Texas residents. Of course, these sorts of surveys often receive little attention from many media outlets.

Opposition to late-term abortion enjoys majority support across the country, not just Texas. This doesn't prevent Democrats from getting elected though.
Texas pro-lifers won a Pyrrhic victory with the toothless SB-5. Wendy Davis' filibuster may have failed but she got huge national exposure, most of it glowing from the MSM --and with this, lots of donated money from across the country. Abbott? Nobody outside of Texas even knows who he is.
Honestly, I don't think Davis will win but I'm afraid it's not going to be a blowout either. I think she's going to make Abbott put up a fight. And fights cost money.
Some groups may oppose abortion for purely demographic reasons. They want racial/ethnic quotas *and* a ban on abortion.

She's way better-looking than Abbott, and that counts for a lot in politics.

***********
It’s been estimate in some articles it will cost upwards of $40 million for each
campaign. Expensive, yes. Abbot supposedly has some $27 million cash on hand
and raised something over $11 million in the last reporting qtr. Davis raise over
$12 million in the last six months and includes some $3 million given to her PAC.

Someone on another thread mentioned how the left has co-opted the language. Abortion becomes “women’s health”. At least half of the babies murdered are female. Doesn’t sound too healthy.
Don’t credit the Dems with Perry’s slim margin in 2010.
He lost his base here in Texas long ago but has stayed in office because there is no viable opposition.
A lot of us voted third party or just didn’t vote in the gubernatorial race, because Perry has backstabbed us too many times during his too many years in office.
Dems had nothing to do with it. Their candidate, a washed-up bald former Houston mayor, was pitiful. They weren’t even trying. And Rick is a good politician.
I do see Davis as a threat, but the details in the DMN article could sink her ship. Gotta get it out there.
