Lightning has broken a finger off the right hand of Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro.
Father Omar, rector of the shrine that holds the statue, told the Globo radio station that lightning frequently strikes the nearly 100-foot tall statue, a symbol of Rio that overlooks the Brazilian city from the peak of the Corcovado mountain.
Its right hand had been damaged sometime ago, but the finger finally broke off in a storm late Thursday.

That’s what happens when you build a large edifice on the top of a mountain in an area prone to lighting storms.

I have a concrete fence near me with tall trees planted along the length. The posts are reinforced with rebar that act like lightning rods, and have a accumulated a few lightning strikes over the years. I got to witness one of them and see the little pieces of concrete fly.

Oman, perhaps or just a statue in a vulnerable position? The Empire State building and the Statue of Liberty are hit by lightening hundreds of times a year and yet no religious significance are attributed to them.

Picture this. A sailor on a carrier pulling into Rio and because he’s been up all night working simply hits the rack for some sleep. He wakes up just after dark and decides to walk up on the flight deck for a look see of the city lights. He is oblivious to the mountain or the statue sitting atop of it. He’s looking around and suddenly the lights come on at the statue and all he can see is Christ in the sky. He can’t see the mountain top it rest on just the statue. That was my first look at that statue. :>}

It must be a bad omen. I was there exactly 13 years ago, Jan, 2001. There is a nice view from there.

You never know; something big is coming, I can tell you that much. Don’t ask me how I know, but I have a psychic quirk and my instincts are often correct. It is startling that the statue of Christ would be hit and like all people, I didn’t think such a thing would be possible to happen.
There have been too many out of this world things happening that a lot of other psychics as well are going ‘on alert.’ Do you ever sense it?

After our sons left the Church, their apartment (attached to our house) was hit by lightning late at night while they lay sleeping. A hole was blown clear through their wall, and missed them by about five feet (maybe less), and plasterboard was strewn ALL over the place. I have no idea how they got out of that unscathed. Within a couple-three weeks of that strike, an old elm tree was knocked over by wind, and missed their room by less than a foot. They have not taken either incident as a "sign."
When Christ decides to cleanse the world with more vigor, however, it's not going to be pretty. We sit about doing our day-to-day activities as He's about ready to blow His top, because of all our senseless, murdering, unrepentant sin. Myself, I've been upping my adoration time, trying to save the lives (souls!) of my kids, myself, my hubby (he doesn't need any help, but what the heck; he gets prayed for anyway) and all we hold dear.
