The ex-Florida cop charged with murdering a man in a beef over texting at the movies menaced another texting moviegoer at the same theater just last month, she said.
Jamira Dixon and her husband said Curtis Reeves, the 71-year-old retired Tampa police captain accused of fatally shooting a man inside a theater Monday, screamed at them during a Dec. 28 showing of The Hobbit.
It could have been us, Dixon told Tampas ABC Action News.
Reeves was charged with second-degree murder for allegedly gunning down Chad Oulson, who was texting his 3-year-old daughters day-care center while in the suburban theater outside Tampa.

There have been instances at the theater where I would have liked to b!tch slap someone using their phone or being obnoxious while the movie was playing.
Me too, but I didn’t murder them. I told some kids to STFU once, and one of them said, “I’ll see you outside.” When I left after the movie, he was nowhere to be seen, maybe because we were three grown men.
Let’s hear from the idiots on the other thread that said there are two sides to every story or that this was a justifiable shooting. The pos should die in prison and all his retirement/savings should go to the kids of the man he murdered.
Yeah, I wouldn’t commit murder either, regardless of whether I felt like it. Prison is just not all that enticing. However, there are lots of people in today’s society that are simply rude and obnoxious.
That was my first thought also....early onset. Sad for all involved.
Sometimes a brain tumor will also produce crazed behavior. His long term friends say he was a decent person,so something happened to him.
We only go to the first show on Sunday. I wouldn’t go to an evening show especially on Fri. And Sat.
But death seems a harsh penalty....
Well, his forgetting to plant a gun or knife on the victim after shooting him could be taken as a sign of senility.
Or lack of opportunity. He only winged the victims wife. Can't plant anything if she's watching.
Deadly force is only justified when there is a threat to life or limb, not because some idiot was being rude in a movie theater. Anyone who tries to say this shooting is justified needs his/her/their head examined. However, I can understand the feeling behind this incident given how many rude people exist in today’s society.
Same here. Sticky floors, loudmouths, Abe Lincoln in front of me with his stovepipe hat and people who can't stop playing with their cell phones for five minutes. Screw that. I bought a big TV and have unlimited options for getting movies for it. I can pause them when I need a break and can tell my fellow moviegoers to pipe down if it's warranted, and make it stick. :-)
Last movie I saw in a theater, I lucked out. I unexpectedly showed up at a friend's house in SoCal. 'Enemy at the Gates' was showing, at the brand-new, state-of-the-art theater in the next town. He's a huge WW2 buff and never has any money, so I sprung for it. Turns out that the last movie in a theater that he went to was 'Das Boot', when it was in theater circulation in...late Seventies? Early Eighties?
Knocked him out. We almost had the place to ourselves, so no jerks.
Everybody should have followed my lead.
Don't get me started on commercial air travel. Stopped that in 1992.
I see only 1 or 2 movies a year. I can’t stand the teenagers and twenty-somethings with their damn cell phones. The only films I feel like I NEED to see IN the theater are the next Hobbit film (#3) and the next Star Wars when that comes out in 2015. Other than that? I can wait until it comes out on DVD or is available through an online server like Netflix.
On the rare times that I actually go to a movie it’s during the matinee when there are very few in the theater.
American society has gone down the gutter these past 20 years and I have a zero urge to deal with this new American culture in a movie theater at 9 o’clock at night.
Usually I can wait the 19 days and rent the DVD instead.
Most of the cops I’ve known are that type. And I’ve known many. They’re bullies.
My wife and I go to the Saturday or Sunday early matinee almost every week and there is very rarely any kind of issue with people texting or using cellphones or any other rude behavior during the 15 minute preview period and never during the movie. I don’t know what theaters all these other posters are visiting, but we like to go to the first run movies during the matinees when prices are lower and crowds are scarce.
“He wouldn’t buy me a doughnut!”
Respect my former authoritay!
This from the story:
Charles Cummings said his son went to call 911, while Cummings and another patron who claimed to a nurse began performing CPR on the victim.
A man sitting next to the shooter grabbed the gun out of his hand, and the suspect did not attempt to get away, Cummings said.
Good thing the gun jammed and they got it away from him quickly or he might have shot the guy using his cell phone in the theatre there calling 911.
