Early in the morning on January 13, Mexican soldiers clashed with members of an armed citizens militia group. Multiple casualties were reported. Mexicos government recently amped up its presence in the surrounding state of Michoacan after ongoing conflicts between armed civilians and drug cartel members have escalated. A recent push by the vigilante group to drive members of the Caballeros Templarios drug cartel out of the city of Apatzingan has led to an even more complicated situation. While heavily armed soldiers congregated in the center of Apatzingan, other units operating outside of the city tried to disarm some of the vigilantes. During the operation, some soldiers reportedly fired at members of the citizens group.

They need to concentrate on disarming the cartel...or maybe it is a question of whose side the police are on.
So the Mexican Army is paid by the cartels, no?
The Mexican army and the drug cartels are one and the same.
Looks that way.
Sounds like the Mexican government is trying to disarm the citizens who had the audacity of challenging the drug cartel. The drug lords frown on such challenges and called in their lackeys in the government to put this rebellion down. Typical for Mexico.
Or at least have considerable overlap.
One of my best friends is from Morelia in Michoacán state. It used to just be really poor. Now it's incredibly dangerous even by Mexican standards.
The Mexican govt and police are so corrupt half of them work for the cartels. Thats why they killed the vigilantes.
How bad is Mexico City for American gringos? I’m thinking of visiting there this year.
I guess the government has decided to show their hand.
It sure seems so.
We don’t hear much about things being dangerous in Mexico City. It seems not to be one of the war zones like Michoacán, Acapulco, or Sinaloa.
And the other half lie about it.
I can imagine this same type of thing happening here before too long.
I visited Michoacan in 1975. It’s a beautiful state, with lakes and mountains covered with pine forests that resemble the Rockies or Sierra Nevada. In years past, it attracted a lot of tourists.
Hmmmm...
The United States Government and the Democratick (sicK) party are one and the same.
Is this what we should expect in the coming EBT Riots when Eric Holder sets “his people” loose on the unbelievers?
Remember the Alamo.
