The elderly man accused of shooting a movie theater patron in Florida after an argument over text messaging told police that he fired because he "was in fear of being attacked."
Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said at a news conference today that the victim, Chad Oulson, 43, was texting his young daughter's babysitter when an argument erupted with Reeves over texting during previews before the movie "Lone Survivor."

So it’s all a big conspiracy?
Do you even believe a shooting occured, or do you think that was orchestrated too, like the people who say the moon landing was filmed in a Hollywood studio?
Have you even read the police report on this shooting???
Do you believe what's in it???
You know -- the police report with the basic facts of the shooting sworn to by a police officer that was presented to the court and relied upon by the court to deny the shooter bond???
What part of that report do you take issue with????
Just curious.
Our troubles started with post 52, in which you said
You carry a pistol for self protection. Someone in the theater is texting on a phone, you ask them politely to stop and they go off on you. You go and speak to the manager. When you come back the guy won't let it go, he is getting more and more irate, words get more and more heated, then he throws his bag of popcorn at you. What do you really think is going to happen next? Do you think he's suddenly going to come to his senses, apologies and offer to pay your dry cleaning bill? Throwing the popcorn was a clear escalation of force that went past a rational tipping point, the next step was going to be physical, even the aggressors wife was trying to hold him back. The elderly man clearly suspected what was going to happen next. He wasn't afraid of the popcorn, he was afraid of a younger and stronger man getting his hand on him before he could deploy his legal, and rational, means of self defense. It might not have happened this way but it could have.
Implicit in this post is the idea that throwing popcorn or speaking insultingly is grounds to shoot an unarmed person frontally in a public place, if we accept the reports to date that no punches were thrown. I simply cannot buy that. It truly isn't a rational response. If someone is irrational, move away and call the usher, or the real cops, or brandish your weapon but don't shoot unless you see a weapon. Or don't go back to the same seat behind a moron -- any number of other responses than blaming the guy you shot for making you do it -- that's the rape defense men used before courts came to their senses -- she looked so sexy, I had to rape her!
No one is trying to lynch anyone. And I'm really done trying to convince you otherwise.
Nutshell.
“That’s easy to say but in fact he did his target. If nothing else his judgement was sound there.”
-shooting two people, the husband in the chest, and his wife in the hand, over texting is “sound judgment”?
The judge said there was ample evidence, based on eye witness testimony to charge this ex-cop, Curtis Reeves, with second degree murder, and she also denied Reeves bail. This was the second time Reeves had threatened someone in the theater, the other time, a woman said he followed her out to the bathroom. He’s clearly a confrontational guy. Hearing on Reeves bail and charges are in video below:

I’m curious how the progenitor of this thread is a “troll”.
“I guess Mr. I can do anything I want when I want met Mr. Oh no you cant. Mr.Oh no you cant won.”
-”Mr. Oh no you can’t” is now wearing a prisoners jumpsuit, and is charged with second degree murder. I wouldn’t call that a “win”.
“I keep seeing declarative posts that the theater was nearly empty. How many seats are actually in the theater?”
-According to the sheriff’s department AND the news reports, there were only TEN people total in the theater. It sure sounds like you’re trying to excuse this idiot ex cop, who ruined a lot of people’s day, and shot both the husband and wife, as well as endanger others over thrown popcorn. This was the second incident with this idiot ex-cop, the other time, he followed a woman out to the restrooms, and scared the heck out of her.
Maybe you should listen to the judge, in the initial hearing, to get some better perspective. Here’s Reeves hearing for bail, which was DENIED:

Your Oregon news coverage must be more accurate than Tampa Bay local. Other than that, I don’t sit around making up facts and hanging my hat on attorney statements. I’ll wait for the evidence presented at trial.
“His being a former cop has absolutely no bearing on this matter.”
-his defense team is certainly trying to make it part of their case. Part 1 of Curtis Reeves hearing here:

The court room was full of his cop buddies who are all supporting him. Shocking isn’t it. There’s hardly ever a bad shoot in most cops eyes.
You’re trying to compare this case to George Zimmerman? ??
-Zimmerman was physically assaulted. He had documented injuries on his head and face. Where’s the evidence that this idiot ex-cop was hit by anything other than popcorn? - by Reeves own statement, that’s all he was hit by. Furthermore, others in the theater stated that the popcorn flew as soon as they heard the shot fired. So it’s very possible that Reeves had already drawn his weapon.
The wife approved, apparently.

Trying to compare this movie theater shooting victim Chad Oulson whose wife was also shot in the hand, to Trayvon Martin, who jumped Zimmerman, is quite a stretch of logic.
Only when people are put in prison for recklessly shooting people in public venues will we have a polite and respectful society. Everyone’s day in this entire cinema was ruined by Curtis Reeves recklessly shooting an unarmed man that day.

I just gave you the link to the actual bail hearing where Mr. Reeves appeared before the judge. The judge’s statement that there’s ample evidence for a second degree murder charge is pretty convincing to me. She also denied bail, based on eye witness statements to the crime. I don’t need to see an entire trial to form an opinion, just because this idiot is an ex-cop.
The media and the race-baiters convinced a lot of people that it was an open-and-shut case against Zimmerman,
Actually I see many similarities. Here are a few.
Ex-cop / neighborhood watchman
Legal concealed carry
Older trigger-happy man shoots young, innocent man
A dark environment making it hard for witnesses to see all of what happened.
Both the victim and the shooter had a right to be where they were
Both victims were texting before the altercation
A single shot fired with a claim of self-defense
The victim was unarmed but used objects at hand as weapons
The shot was fired at point blank range
The victim dies immediately without making a statement
Defendant claims that he was attacked by the victim
It's in Florida and Stand Your Ground may be at issue
The media (at least CNN) omits completely that the victim attacked the shooter
The defendant attempted to involve authorities to address the initial situation
The shooter broke contact with the victim to involve authorities and contact was re-established leading to the shooting
