A 43-year-old father was shot dead by a retired cop in a Florida cinema after a row about him texting his three-year-old daughter as they waited for the movie to start, witnesses said.
Chad Oulson was shot in front of his wife and horrified movie-goers during an argument with 71-year-old Curtis Reeves.
The victim's wife, Nicole, was injured in the shooting after holding her hands out to try to shield Mr Oulson during the confrontation at a movie theater near Tampa on Monday.
After Reeves fired at his chest the victim was heard saying: 'I can't believe I got shot', according to Fox News.
Reeves, who is facing life in prison if found guilty, has been charged with second-degree murder. During a hearing on Tuesday he appeared via video link, wearing a green suicide smock - a fire resistant outfit that can't be torn or turned into a noose.
The judge ruled he should be held without bond because of the severity of the charges, but the no bond ruling can't be confirmed until a live hearing with Reeves.

He was texting his 3-year old daughter. Maybe she will grow up to cure cancer, being capable of operating a cellphone and reading at such an early age.
If personal insults and attacks is all you can come up with then you have nothing.
I have read the news stories, there is nothing there about him leaving the building or going to get a firearm. People who carry, carry all the time. I know this to be true of most retired LE. I have carried a firearm for a living while involved in Law Enforcement. The reality that you may come in contact with someone who wants to "even a score" are not confined to just while you are on duty or before they retire. There is a reason that there is a law that allows retired LE to carry concealed nationwide.
I have not patted this shooter on the back or said that what he did was right. I have said that there are other factors involved. Some are indicating that because he objected to another person using their cell at the theater or his being blunt with a neighbor somehow make him guilty. That is BS. He may be a little cranky and not like people breaking the rules but that does not make him a killer.
He did complain to management, and the dead p*ssy gave him sh!t for it. A dead a=hole who thought he was better than anybody else.
“If his aim was to stop a disturbance in the theater, he did the exact opposite - he created one.”
That outside the box thinking will not be tolerated! Indeed, someone had a text screen up during previews. And in this lunatics mind a loud argument is somehow less intrusive.
Correcting manners of strangers is also rude. And it’s idiotic if you are a CCW carrier.
There are prohibitions on filming (or even photographing) the screen.
This story is a odd twist for me.
I am sure I will be killed asking some fool to be quiet in a theatre.
Texting in the auditorium is distracting even during previews. The texted should have stepped out.
The shooter had gone out to ask the employees to take care of the problem.
I have thought in this scenario I would buy a large soda and pour it over the persons head. Then they will stab me to death.
So his 3 year old daughter is literate and has a cell phone?
The cop demonstrated an undeserving level of arrogant superiority as do most perpetrators.
>> Im sick and tired of belligerent bullies. Mean people suck
Boo hoo hoo...
Go out to the damn lobby.
The bully is the guy who berated a retired man for "tattling".
Not in the least especially if I was deliberately antagonizing him and trying to pick a fight with him so that I could create a pretense to pull out my gun and shoot him.
According the report, the shooter was hit in the face by an unknown object. Maybe the popcorn was thrown in advance of a suckerpunch.
Anybody can speculate.
>> Then they will stab me to death.
Folks that don’t respond to polite requests for quiet aren’t worth engaging any further. Your best option is to get your refund and leave the theater.
So far it sounds like the dead guy picked the fight. Harassing him after he went to the authorities.
I don’t think you get it —
No one else was complaining about the silent undetectable texting but quickdraw.
Then he left the auditorium and all was peaceful and quiet.
Then quickdraw returned WITHOUT management and started the fight all over again.
Quickdraw was the instigator and continuator of the fight from start to finish.
“All the ex-cop had to do was go ask an usher to do something.

I go to the movies every week. What’s an usher?
:-)
.
I am a little cranky occasionally but so far I haven't shot anybody. If I ever do can I count on your defense?
“you see judge she was a little cranky, let her go!”
Maybe my best option is to not be intimidated. I have diabetes, two heart attacks and just over prostate cancer. Perhaps I will become the aggressor.
An armed society is a polite society.
There is no evidence that he complained to management, but there is evidence that after leaving the theatre for some reason he returned and fired a weapon he then had.
If you are in an argument with someone and they are making threats and they throw something in your face and you protect your eyes by closing them how do you know they will not follow up with a fist?
Mine was just a theory. I am withholding judgement either way, because I don’t trust the MSM to give all the facts.
