I don't understand the notion that they are doing this because he outpolls Hillary, because in my mind, he is the 2016 Romney. Since he's from New Jersey, he's the Ramoney. Anyway, he's the designated centrist loser, who ticks off the GOP base while not picking up any democrats. And I thoroughly believe that is how it would go down if he got the nomination, it might be the end of the GOP but if not, he would never get more than 46 percent no matter how bad the commie party nominee was. If the GOP is stupid enough to pass amnesty it would be even worse.

So, the thing that doesn't make sense to me is why they are going after him now. With McCain and Romney, they were all lovey dovey at this stage. They didn't turn on them until after they had locked up the nomination. Why? Is it just a crime of opportunity? Or does someone really fear Christie? If so, I don't know why.

Yes, I think the timing was just happenstance. Things just broke when they did. There was nothing calculated involved in that. It occurred, and taste of Republican blood in the water was just too irresistable to them.

They would have probably preferred to feast on Christie’s whale-blubber in 2016, but you’re talking about rabid pack animals, where instinct kicks in.

Part of it is defining him in the eyes of the public early on. Romney lost because he's a weak candidate, but the media still needs to do their part to shatter the glass jaw that's handed to them. They may be assuming Krispy's got the nomination locked up already, because even though the base hated Romney, he had the support of the party bosses and all the big money donors, and he won the nom. Christie already has that locked up too, in theory. So why not start smearing him now when they have the chance? Plus in the media's eyes, the conservative Republicans are so off-putting, they can't envision any of them winning the nomination at this point.

...so the question is this; Christie loses votes from the right wing for being centrist; someone who would be pure enough to get those votes in turn loses them from all the middle to left voters...doesn’t take a genius to calculate who wins the particular election in question...what to do, whom to nominate...

...are those on the right still waiting for their shining prince, pure as the most new fallen red-state snow, to ride in and grab the prize...? are they still dreaming that anything over 191 electoral votes are going to come from said prince...?

...everything in this world costs something...all things have a price...so what is the price of the White House...?
