AN Adelaide family has made a personal appeal to US President Barack Obama to release their daughter from a prison where she is serving time for stealing food stamps from the US Government. The single mother of two young has spent the past year in jail after the FBI arrested her for using a false social security number to try and obtain food stamps so she could feed her two young daughters. Louise Early's family, in Adelaide's south, say she was homeless and driven to desperation after her seven-year marriage to Eugene Early, a US marine, broke down and he failed to apply for her to become a citizen.The Australian Foreign Affairs Department then botched her passport application for more than six months so she could not bring the girls home, during which time she was arrested. Ms Early's visually impaired mother Jenny Smith, 62, of Hackham said she had brought her two grandchildren home from Baltimore last February but now feared Louise's multiple medical problems meant she would not make it home. The girls, Jenae 8 and Kaylea 7, are living with Jenny and their grandfather John, are attending an Adelaide school and have pleaded for the safe return of their mother. Their house in Hackham is adorned with family photographs, messages of love and support and mementos of their lives in the US and here.

Does anyone find it ironic that she would appeal to a man who has used stolen social security numbers and has never been jailed for it?
I hear you, and understand. I’d do the same.
On the other hand, if a destitute single mom wants food to feed her children, then the book should be thrown at her, such that she serves more than a year in federal prison, but if a buddy of Obama, one Jon Corzine, steals $1.6 billion dollars from clients in violation of commodity law, they don’t even detain him for questioning let alone arrest him or put him in federal prison for even one day. Because it’s important to get one’s priorities straight. And those priorities are “the laws exist to protect the elites from those they plunder.”
I think anyone with a heart would steal to feed their children, if that was truly her last resort. I don’t know that it was, but maybe it was, or she thought it was. People who are otherwise honest can become rattled and make mistakes that are otherwise unlike them. In any case, letting her go home to Australia would save the U.S. some money.
sounds like there’s plenty of wrong to go around here. Her ex-husband, first and foremost, sounds like he needs to be horse whipped for abandoning his wife and children and disgracing the military and the marine corps. If everything is true as has been described, the system failed this woman horribly. I’m disinclined to judge harshly a woman who steals food for herself or for her family. I would, however, punish a man that abandons his family with all manner of hellish torments were I empowered to do so.

I’d be willing to bet that her children all have BMI’s over 30 and that she was going to sell the food stamps to buy drugs.
She’s white so off she goes to jail. If only she changed her name to Shaniqua Perez, this would never have happened.

Its not his responsibility to apply its hers...
she wants to become an American citizen not him..
Plus she didn’t need to be an American citizen to stay here....
she must have had a green card ..
Plus as an Australian she spoke read and wrote English as her first language..
there was no language barrier..
she knew what she was doing
and she knew she had the right to apply for herself...

If the kids are Americans, she could have gotten food stamps for them. What about food banks? School breakfast/lunch programs? Churches?
I’m not all in for the feds on this. They give away plenty to people who shouldn’t be getting help. Yet they prosecute a single mother of two? Deport her and get it over with.
Thank you for stating this. I trust the Lord to provide whether it be through church or other sources. I would consider those places and include begging from family, friends, and strangers on the street. Stealing someone’s social security number and using it to fraudulently obtain food stamps is not something I would ever consider doing, not even for my children.

Not surprised, since very little of this narrative can be squared up with the legal and welfare reality in the USA.
First, the fact that a single mother was sent to prison for stealing a Social Security number immediately tells me that she has previous convictions or pleaded down from a more serious charge.
Second, her husband, who has clearly abandoned the family, is either a USA citizen or holds a Green Card.
That instantly makes this woman eligible for Food Stamps, eligible for Aid to Needy Families (cash and rent assistance), and her children are eligible for full health coverage under Medicaid and for 2 (now, sometimes 3) free meals at school.
At the state level, almost every state in America has passed a law that safe shelter MUST be provided for homeless women and children, for completely obvious reasons that no one disagrees with.
Finally, there are thousands of private charities in America that provide billions of dollars of aid to destitute families, and specifically to single mothers with young children.
Obama pardoned cocain dealers, released Al queada terrorists from gitmo...in honor of being serious about income inequality & immigration reform he should pardon this mom.
