This is why I always lecture people to NOT USE BANK DEBIT cards, but still many refuse to listen and use them.
Credit cards are king, but if you cant get one cos of bad credit then pay in cash.
But Do NOT use debit cards.
My bank just sent me a new debit card because I had used the bank card to pay for something at Target.
I can’t imagine how much this is costing banks and retailers. Why doesn’t the NSA get busy on that?
Might be the judgment of God because they refused to let the Salvation Army Bell Ringers outside their stores.
So how far prior to Black Friday?
No such problems with good old CASH. Here’s your sign!
One in five of the entire country. Ouch. My bet is nobody is prosecuted for this, but they should be. And Target should be bankrupt. This is gross malfeasance.
I have two accounts at my bank. One has no access other than me moving money via apps or a check. I move money into another one to cover the debit card on that account as needed. My transfers are instantaneous from my phone. Plus I have the best bank Starts with U end with A.
This explains the situation a little better:

Apparently it’s another 70 million people affected in addition to the 40 million previously reported. They got this data from customers that had accounts with them online. There is likely some overlap, but they don’t know how much yet.
So far, they are not saying that anyone that shopped there before black Friday had credit/debit data stolen, but who knows what comes next as they dribble this out a little at a time.
