Cut the Vets benefits, but toss “free” money at the bums who won’t take a job after 2 years. I am amazed at the dispicable immorality of our government.
Amen
Immediately after the vote Obama put a unemployed woman on TV as his lead in.
She thanked Obama for trying to save her family with this bill. She said she needs it to pay the bills and she gets up every day looking for a job.
Now he is on TV (MSNBC showing it) praising the unemployed and explaining that they are victims, ‘working their tails off trying to get jobs’.
Says they cant look for a job without this $$$ to pay for gas to get to interviews and cell phone bill.(they been off > 100 weeks!)
Valid arguments on both sides of this issue. But, one of the attitudes that continue to perplex me are attitudes like your statement.
Many of these unemployed are older generation individuals who have burned through any savings and who are unable to find work, simply because in many areas of this country, there are no jobs. In other locations, the limited jobs available are going to younger workers.
Your statement makes it sound as if things are just fine in the Obama economy and it's these unemployed who just want something for nothing, as if these unemployed aren't victims at all. I'm fairly sure nothing is further from the truth.
The hostility being expressed by some here and elsewhere is misdirected. Instead of blaming the unemployed, why are so few identifying the real cause of a terrible jobs market and placing blame where it belongs...the resident at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
The problem starts with Ryan's terrible deal-making and HOR reps voting for it. They had to know that the dems would over-ride the parts involving handouts that don't solve anything.
The HOR 'pubs never should've voted for it to begin with.
Unfortunately, it also says something about the country for electing them.
Despicable immorality of both government and its people
I agree with what you say about our Vets. They should be priority.
Republicans and democrats, however, cannot have it both ways on the jobs issue. This is either an Obama economic disaster OR Obama's policies have indeed worked and the economy is improving under the democrat majority government.
Our elected republicans have conceded that the Obama economy is indeed doing very well... so well that unemployment extention is "no longer needed". That was their first mantra a few months ago.
Now some of those republicans are saying that they would actually support an extention if there were cuts somewhere else. This should have been their statement from the beginning. Now they say the economy is "good" but we will still support an extention if cuts somewhere else were made.
Democrats win, republicans lose on this argument.
You are right.
A politician has to have his priorities straight, don’t ya know?
