A new study of how criminals vote found that most convicts register Democratic, a key reason in why liberal lawmakers and governors are eager for them to get back into the voting booth after their release.
Democrats would benefit from additional ex-felon participation, said the authoritative study in The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science.
The authors, professors from the University of Pennsylvania and Stanford University, found that in some states, felons register Democratic by more than six-to-one. In New York, for example, 61.5 percent of convicts are Democrats, just 9 percent Republican. They also cited a study that found 73 percent of convicts who turn out for presidential elections would vote Democrat.
But despite recent moves in states to notify convicts that they can vote again, the study finds little evidence that they do, undercutting Democratic efforts to get them to the polls.
The study looked at three states which are reminding convicts that they can vote after leaving jail: New York, New Mexico and North Carolina.
They provided the following Democrat-to-Republican breakdown in felon party registration patterns:
New York: 61.5 percent register Democratic, 9 percent register Republican
New Mexico: 51.9 percent Democratic, 10.2 percent Republican
North Carolina: 54.6 percent Democratic, 10.2 percent Republican
Overall, said the study, there are 5.8 million eligible voters in jail, about 2.5 percent of the voting age population. Most are young black males, it added

Well DUH! That is why the Democrats are always trying to give the right to vote to incarcerated felons. The numbers favor them.
In early on this thread.
Felons who have served their time and parole, may vote in all 50 states, a few states add some restrictions but ALL allow felons to vote. If you think your state doesn’t, take a look here:

Maine and Vermont allow incarcerated felons to vote.
...sounds about right
Hardly a surprise as 70 percent of felons are also black.
Chicago Crook County news:
Get em early for voting Democrat early and often.
Cook County launching efforts to register 17-year-old voters

Beginning Wednesday, most Illinois 17-year-olds will be eligible to register and vote in a primary election a first in our states history, Cook County Clerk David Orr said Monday.
The new suffrage at 17 law will let voters choose in the primary election which candidates will be nominated to represent political parties in the general election.
This expansion of voter registration will allow more young people to participate than ever before, Orr said. Suffrage at 17 will also get teenagers registered to vote before they leave high school, and studies show that establishing voting habits early boosts the likelihood of participation for years to come.
U.S. citizens who were born on or before Nov. 4, 1996 can register and vote in the March 18 primary because they will turn 18 in time for Novembers general election.
Similarly, dead people tend to register Democrat by an overwhelming margin.
The sad part, really...NO joke, is that all the other Democrats are not in prison yet for having supported that party. If I could, I would....
Heck, lets go all the way...allow parents to vote by proxy for all their "chilruns" from birth...
After all one man infant, one vote... should be the standard...
But aborted babies do not get to vote.
7 in 10 prison inmates are black... 30% of those do not register dimrat... 97% of the black population voted for obama... 3% did not... man I know that there is a pattern here but I can’t see it yet.
But despite recent moves in states to notify convicts that they can vote.
WTF felons shouldn’t be allowed to vote period.
“Jail survey: 7 in 10 felons register as Democrats”
And the other three are RINOs.
Obviously that was intended to allow Reconstruction governments to bar Southern whites from voting if they had supported the Confederate cause, but it does say "other crime." No doubt as soon as there are five committed liberals on the Supreme Court, they will figure out a way around it to force states to let felons vote, even while still in prison.
