There was a common price for travel tickets through Morris Travel SLC. Cannot remember the amount, probably about $150.

Other than that, my parents sent me $65. per month which was the total amount received (no help). I bought a bike for about $30 which was my transportation.

We lived very sparing lives, worked our asses off and for me was the finest experience I had ever experienced as a 19 year old kid. Not the religion or the dogma but the people, the food not to mention a few other special things.

After thirty months I had my father sell a cow that I had won in an FFA public speaking contest as a 17 year old. He sent me the $500 and I spent a month on my own touring Europe, smoking Camel cigarettes, drinking the finest beers and spending time with the beautiful young women in Geneva, Amsterdam, Rome, Berlin and Paris.

The finest and best two and a half years of my life.

So the Church really didn’t help that much?
