Believe it or not, the first cold fusion power plant is now available to pre-order. The E-Cat 1MW Plant, which comes in a standard shipping container, can produce one megawatt of thermal energy, using low-energy nuclear reactions (LENR) a process, often known as cold fusion, that fuses nickel and hydrogen into copper, producing energy 100,000 times more efficiently than combustion. It sounds like E-Cat is now taking orders for delivery in early 2014, priced fairly reasonably at $1.5 million. Has cold fusion the answer to all our energy needs finally made its way to market?

If you have to put in 200KW of electricity to get 1000KW of heat, it may not matter much, Unless it is putting out very hot steam, you are going to have trouble getting past break even. I don’t have a Carnot chart handy but you may have trouble generating 200KW of electricity even if the thing actually works. If it is only putting out low quality steam, good for only heating, you would be better off running a heat pump with that 200KW.
And no, I don’t know what is included in the package, I suspect little more than rainbows and unicorns but the idea is intriguing enough to keep me clicking on the articles.

This is how it works with every product that is bought and sold. Money is borrowed to fight wars, build bridges, airplanes, literally everything. Why do you think the bankers wield so much authority?
Did you make your preorder? Was it delivered and is it generating the power promised?
