The Robertson family released a statement Thursday night in response to the A&E network's decision to suspend patriarch Phil Robertson over comments the family patriarch made to GQ Magazine on homosexuality:
"We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E's decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil's unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart" and "Love your neighbor as yourself." Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family."

Then they would all have to make the same statement or interview as he did.Yes then they would be all fired. What a mess.My motto is buy your own airtime-nobody owns you.
I think so too. The topic was first up on every talk radio program I heard today. It's continuing on into the nighttime broadcasts as we speak.
This thing has struck a huge nerve with the majority public, which should have been predictable to the executives of A&E, given the show's unprecedented success. Just who did they think was tuning in to watch it anyway? The pro-homo left? Uh....no....
This is basic sales and marketing stuff. You don't insult your best customers the way they did, and expect to come out unscathed. This ugliness and stupidity on their part is going to leave a mark. No question about it.
I predicted this response from the family. It's who they are, and what they're about. The dingbat libs in Hollywood are finding out the hard way that folks on our side are the real deal.
They cant pull out of a contract.
____________
I haven’t obviously seen the contract or frankly even watch the show. But they could just stop being very good at their performance. They will get canceled or fired or dropped.
If they need any pointers On how to do it they can just watch MSNBC. Or watch Mike Shanahan and Dan Snyder from the Redskins.
These people are country folks but they are not stupid country folks. The only guy who didn’t graduate from college was Si although he did matriculate at the University of Vietnam, College of Warfare. They are rich. I am sure they have very smart lawyers who are very good friends. A&E may have violated the Civil Rights Act by terminating Phil for his religious beliefs. Believe it or not they may end up being sued by the Robertsons for just that reason and the Robertsons may win.
Sure they can. It will cost them some money because they will get sued. But, I haven’t seen the contract. Maybe they can counter-sue.
Good luck with that-A&E have lots more money for Lawyers.
I’m watching the whole thing. Great stuff and he’s right. Our Constitution had to be divinely inspired. There is no way mortal men could have written something so brilliant.
God can undermine these demonic losers really quickly.
I’m thinking that Duck Commander calls might be required equipment for the next Tea Party rally. Imagine half a million strong all quacking their approval ...
The flyover redneck set was willing to overlook A&E’s thin, shrill leftiness as long as they kept Duck Dynasty’s show going.
As with Obamacare, this may be a case of lefties finally biting off more than they could possibly chew.
If you do that...you’ll be giving A&E a piece of the profit...got to DuckCommanders.com (I think)....that gives the Robertson family 100% profits
Heh.... I can just see some small group of deep leftists in solemn conversation about what a huge setback this debacle is to their plans to 'fundamentally transform' America.
I can only imagine what some of those types are saying to the honchos at A&E in private.
PHIL ROBERTSON FOR PRESIDENT !
Bull's eye, Agnes. Well stated.
I don’t think Robertson and his family really care about the money. From what I’ve read they were already successful and comfortable if not wealthy.
Before they had a show. This is not like an Anna Nicole Smith I have no money, I’m fat and I’m on drugs so I will do a reality show to pay the bills and my pills type thing.
I don’t think they really care about that. They have made a much larger point. The reaction from Social engineering liberal media types was predictable. I wonder if the whole thing was intentional. Maybe God had a plan for them.
They are now bigger then A&E.
Reminds me of how after the Janet Jackson NFL Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction happened. The next year Paul McCartney performed. The Beatles are bigger than the NFL.
They found a higher power.
but thought they’d be the black minstrels for the urban elitists snobs to laugh at over their red wine cocktails. But all of this has backfired on them, as the Heartland America has rallied in support of the Robertsons.

BAM! YOU NAILED IT!
Had a friend who was approached to do the show “You Don’t Know Dixie” (History Channel). Got an obscure email from Madison Avenue and almost discarded it. Said they wanted friend to be in it. I voiced my concern about this VERY thing. Said they are known to exploit Southerners and it was highly suspect after I did some digging. However, friend decided to shoot the documentary. While it was a pretty good portrayal, friend spends HOURS of taping in home....and they HEAVILY edited the humor (this person is really funny).
Only snippet I can find on YT:

I think it was intentional.Don’t know what was going on -on the set but editing is the bitch. You say one thing it comes out another. If you want total control buy your own air time period.
Sure they can, if they're willing to bear the costs associated with breaking it.
On the other hand, I have reason to believe that the Robertsons have solid legal grounding to bring a suit against A&E for violating Phil's civil rights in this matter.
