Obama administration relaxes rules of health-care law four days before deadline
Washington Post ^ | 12/19/13 | Amy Goldstein

The Obama administration Thursday night significantly relaxed the rules of the health-care law for millions of consumers whose individual insurance policies have been canceled, saying they could buy bare-bones health plans or entirely avoid the requirement that most Americans have health insurance.

The surprise announcement, four days before the Dec. 23 deadline for people to choose coverage that begins on Jan. 1, triggered an immediate backlash from the health insurance industry and raised new fairness questions about a law intended to promote affordable and comprehensive coverage.

He has total, absolute dictatorial power, and he knows it. He can ignore any law he wants to, rewrite any law he wants to, and create any law he wants to, all with the blessing of Harry Reid and the other donks in congress. The donks have ceded all their constitutional powers to Bozo. Why? Because he’s black. Even Clinton at the height of his popularity couldn’t have gotten away with this crap without even the donks slapping him down.

"the new rules will allow any consumer whose current, substandard insurance plan is being canceled to claim a 'hardship exemption'..."

Lol!

Put me down for one "hardship exemption" there, Pajama King. I'll even staple a copy of the cancellation letter to my tax return. Which as of tonight won't contain that 1% you were hoping to steal.

Obama is hilarious!

It is still there. He is just waiting for the sheep to settle down again. nothing has changed. To be legal[enforceable] each new policy will have to meet the requirements set forth in the AHC Act.

RE: Impeachment. Two problems with that:
1.) Senate would have to convict, and it won't.

2.) Joe Biden as president.

Other than that, I'm all for it.

They should be considering articles of impeachment.

It has gotten to the point where the House should be finding it difficult to avoid the subject.

But I just don't see this collection of cowards up to the task.

And, so long as Harry Reid is Majority Leader, the Senate would never convict. The Democrats proved their partisan deceit with Clinton -- when they acquitted a demonstrably guilty man.

The Constitution is being shredded and nobody's going to do a damn thing!!!

Two important items from this new development.

Another health insurance official, who requested anonymity because he lacked authorization to speak publicly on this matter, pointed out that the hardship exemption also gives one group the abillity to to buy coverage whenever they want, rather than during annual open-enrollment periods. As a result, the official said, more people might wait to buy insurance until they get sick.

The insurance official suggested that some people who already have chosen new health plans after receiving a cancellation notice might back out of their new coverage to take advantage of the admnistration’s sudden offer.

We’ll just ignore this impossible-to-comply-with law, too.

True that. Maybe they can just lock him in jail and forget he’s there.

Joe Biden acts like someone’s drunken, perverted uncle that they lock in the attic and it’s sad that I even stop to wonder which would be worse.

Out of 40 houses on our street 5 are decorated for Christmas. The spirit is about dead. A simple, hard working, decent woman told me today, “We never have known what the future would bring but now we are pretty sure whatever it is will be bad.”

Pointless, to comment, protest or anything.

What difference does it make? I’ve been cancelled, reinstated, revised, cancelled again, new insurance issued since October and mis-billed and rebilled three times this month already.

I’ve written checks for over $5,000 this month since I pay every invoice BCBS sends as soon as I get it out of fear some excuse will drop my coverage and I’ll need it for some emergency. I figure it will eventually sort out and I’ll get proper credit but who knows? BCBS doesn’t want to do this, at least the people there don’t but everything is so messed up their systems are bedlam.

I wonder how people who can’t do what I’ve done can possibly manage?

We are bleeding to death and nobody hears us or cares or can do anything to stop the hemorrhage.

yes that definitely makes sense. You hit the nail on the head. What was needed is to keep all the dems in line and some sort of hidden deal had to be worked out

Unlike some around here I am not convinced ObamaCare will be as much a disaster for the dems in 2014 as some say. It has affected Obama’s approval ratings but Obama is not running in 2014. Dems will lie and distance themselves. Obama will clean up the website over time. Obama will use fascist tactics to force insurance companies to ease the pain some. So dems and Obama still have months to jerk us around before the elections and we have no one except for a few Republicans even fighting.

To me it is amazing that people are not lined up outside the WH with pitchforks given how bad this bas been. The people are not happy as shown in polls but yet they are taking it like the well-indoctrinated sheep they are (many of them anyway).

It’s easy for the health care industry, simply don’t follow the law and force the government to sue them, it will drag out for years in the courts and with our current supreme court I’m confident we will win, they may be alot of things but giving the government the ability to make up law as they go along, well I just don’t see that yet.

“And what will it be tomorrow?”

Well, on the bright side, he may keep changing the law until there is no law.

Very sad, isn’t it? Many people have never felt this helpless in their lives before. A feeling of helplessness often leads to increased chronic and acute illnesses. I’m thinking of some poor lab rats I saw in a psychology experiment running on a treadmill and getting shocked at random times. Although the shocks were relatively small and non-injurious in themselves they devastated the poor little guys over time.

On the Christmas decorations, we have fewer here also but I can’t tell if it was the unusually cold weather or general apathy and despair that kept them from getting the ladders out. I put up only some small things because of the cold. However, there are a couple of people on our street who put lights up this year who never had them before. So I don’t know.
