JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Boeing announced Thursday that it is shifting hundreds of jobs to Alabama, Missouri and South Carolina as part of a restructuring of its U.S. research operations over the next two years.

The Chicago-based aerospace company said the reorganization will result in fewer research jobs in Washington state and California and is being undertaken to better meet the needs of its commercial airplane, military and space and security units.

That is perhaps the most elaborate, deviously clever way to say “we’re cutting 1100 jobs” that I’ve ever seen.

As soon as all military type manufacturing is moved South then we can have CWII.

Good for the Dayton area, which could certainly use a boost.

Boeing plans to announce a decision by early next year on where it will assemble the 777X airplane. States are offering billions of dollars of tax breaks, property and customized employee training as part of the competition to land the assembly plant.

The union thugs have shit the bed and are now having to sleep in it.

By 2050, {right after the great global deep freeze hit's the northern tier of the country} the thought of Boeing building planes in the "great north west" will be a memory.

Hostess? I wonder if this follows in the wake of the commie union rejecting the Co’s best and final.

Meanwhile the Justice Department and Administration are frantically thinking up some plausible intervention scheme.

Like, it is bad for national defense to strip the PNW of manufacturing capability.

the equation is a little complex......difficult to recruit staff in high income tax areas, such a CA and WA, housing expensive....the state governments are liberal to the max....what new tax sucking laws are coming down the tube....and as well, Boeing can hire real Americans, and thereby protect the company technical security....

Looks like one union finally got what it deserved. Boeing has had an office in Huntsville, AL for many years as my BIL was a VP there earlier in his career. Huntsville has Redstone Arsenal, part of NASA, and MICOM, etc. Alabama was a right to work state last time I checked. This will hopefully signal other union labor Corp’s to move to right to work states. This facility in Huntsville will be probably have mostly engineers and former Gov employees if it is like others there.

Keep an eye on Obama’s NLRB. Remember when they tried to stop Boeing from manufacturing in South Carolina and Boeing had to cut a deal with the Machinists Union?

Not to quibble, but Wa state doesn't have an income tax, and if you stay out of King County, housing isn't that bad. I live on almost 2 acres and the mortgage is only $1200 mo. I think the machinists shot themselves in the foot by voting against the new contract. In a global world, Boeing can go where it pleases.

Does this signal the 777x is not going to Long Beach?

They already got their revenge. They just paid billions to buy RUSSIAN helicopters for the Muslims. Their reasoning: the Russian helicopters were better than Boeing's Chinooks.

Boeing Co. said it’s reviewing 54 sites in 22 states for production of its 777X aircraft after talks with its largest labor union ended yesterday.
