Military retirees are outraged that Congress will start voting Thursday on a budget deal that trims military pensions, calling the move "an egregious breach of faith."
The Military Coalition, some 27 military groups, wrote to leaders in Congress and President Obama late Wednesday about their "strong objection" and "grave concern" over the budget deal.

Nice strawmen, which is an embarresment.
You never once addressed the argument *I* made instead of the one you wish I had.
If every other group that has done NOTHING for this country but is on the dole takes cuts, then we’ll talk.
Veterans benefits is *not* what is bankrupting our nation. The number one item that is bankrupting our government is from the DHS, which is 24.7% of the budget. The pension cuts are estimated to save $6 billion over the entirety of the cuts. The annual cost of the Obama Phone Program alone is over $2 Billion per year.
They are cutting benefits to wounded warriors???
“I will never leave a fallen comrade.” I guess that’s negotiable to you as long as you can still give away smartphones to the “poor.” Cut the fat. Cut pensions for future retirees. If that’s not enough, then we’ll talk about cutting pensions already earned.
” I guess thats negotiable to you as long as you can still give away smartphones to the poor. “
What the heck are you talking about?
You wish to have an argument with an intractable reality, just because you don’t like it - that we don’t have the money for everything.
The reason I don’t respond to *YOUR* argument is that it’s incoherent and vacuous and doesn’t deal with reality, rather you are arguing for “wishes”.
Now, my point, which you refuse to acknowledge (somehow you conclude I support Obamaphones) - to reiterate...It would be far preferable that we have a vibrant private sector that can pay for all of this stuff - good and bad by whatever measure you wish to use.
We do not have a vibrant private sector - we have the opposite and the trend is not favorable. So you complain about cuts to veterans benefits? You want to make threats to the tranquility of the country because of that? What idiocy!
The problem is we’re broke. You don’t wish to acknowledge that - which is your prerogative.
FEMA and DHS are unionized, no?
