Pope Francis said in the first peace message of his pontificate that huge salaries and bonuses are symptoms of an economy based on greed and inequality and called again for nations to narrow the wealth gap.

He attacked the "widening gap between those who have more and those who must be content with the crumbs", calling on governments to implement "effective policies" to guarantee people's fundamental rights, including access to capital, services, educational resources, healthcare and technology.

Let’s be honest here. The reason so-called conservative Catholics are defending the Pope is the same reason that Colin Powell defends Obama. It is tribal. Powell defends Obama because he is black, period. It has nothing to do with him loving his policies. It is same with the Pope. It doesn’t matter what he says, he is the Pope period. His so-called conservative defenders will do mental gymnastics because they cannot free themselves from a tribal mentality. I’m Episcopalian, I admit my religious leaders are full of **** right up to the Archbishop of Canterbury. The default position is that they are wrong on everything, it does not pain me to say so. So if the Pope states something stupid about economics, admit it, don’t go into full spin mode.
You will not get hit by lightning if you admit that he is ignorant of economics and the free market.

you're not alone......but sadly the left uses this kind of talk to increase upper working class taxes and decrease their benefits....

we don't ever have to worry about the rich ever having to share one single penny....

Want access to capital? Get a job, and pay your bills on time.

Note, his topic is from a couple months ago.

There is no CEO in the world living in as grand a resildence as the Pope.

There is no CEO in the world treated with the reverence and respect of his employee that the Pope receives.
