Conservative activists are hitting back.
More than 50 high profile conservatives signed onto a statement Wednesday responding to both House Speaker John Boehners harsh words for conservative groups earlier in the day and to the firing of the Republican Study Committees long-time executive director Paul Teller.
It is clear that the conservative movement has come under attack on Capitol Hill today, the statement reads.

There's food for much thought in your comment. This is not a light thing we're talking about here. Essentially, it's the power to transmit and communicate ideas to great numbers of people. Ideas are the deadliest things known to despots of every era. In every age, they have sought to control the flow of information and ideas amongst those they wish to subjugate. It still goes on today in the compromised, subverted, state-run press.
It can be seen, though, that prior to the fall of every despotic regime, there was an eruption of the free flow of ideas and information amongst the people. The emancipation of ideas and communication always precedes the formation of the collective will of a people to emancipate themselves.
Where a tyrant wins in crushing such budding emancipation movements, is when they become too centralized into readily identifiable units. This is why newspapers and television networks were so easily captured by the agents of oppression, then turned into zombie mouth organs for the oligarchy. They're fixed in place and staffed with a fixed set of operators.
YouTube posters, bloggers, and anonymous comment warriors are harder to identify, locate, and pin down. When they are, it does little good, because there are thousands more where they came from. There just aren't enough agents and resources to control them all.
A lot has been written about the democratizing character of the internet, and it's true. Because of this technology, the power of the press is now in everyone's hands. And because so many are choosing to take advantage of that power, the fusillade of ideas, information, and communication, is coming from virtually everywhere. And nowhere......which is the inherent beauty in it.
I think Sun Tzu would caution us about attempting to build solid networks among bloggers, videographers, and comment warriors. I believe he would advise us to create connections that are like the wind. The enemy can feel them. They have real force, pressure, and direction, but he can't locate them, or wrap his fist around them to fix them in place and control them.
You're welcome. We were all caught up in that grand deception to one degree or another. It's one reason that I commend those who chose to have nothing whatsoever to do with it. Despite the overwrought emotional outpourings of some, I think those people did the right thing.
I agree with you and I post against satan every day. I am a sinner but I repent. I love GOD and JESUS and I belong to them. I will fight for the gift that THE FATHER bestowed upon us through our Founder’s and the touch of the Holy Spirit within them. I will fight against the evil of the republican party and the total evil of the democrat party... and I will fight evil in this life and I will fight for the salvation or our republic for as long as GOD allows me to. I put no faith in man... but only in GOD... through his SON.
Consider it my official opus. Norm Lenhart - Done.
Huh? You want to take your ball and go home? No, I don't think so. You call yourself a FReeper, right? Do you know how many of our class were in the streets, and townhalls these many years? You were there too. Now, we are diminishing in numbers.
You know this stuff.
FReeRepublic has changed history man. Among other things, we helped get bjclinton impeached. And you have been apart of that. To quit now tells the democRATs/marxists/progressives/socialists (sorry for the redundancy) reading this, that you quit the premeire conservative web site on the Net? Because you are not winning?
No, you can't take your ball and go home. WE have a game to play...

For me, it was devastating!
Taken as a whole, it is a place of dignity and solemnity....
...although shattering in the stark details of that time.
Room after room, I....and all the other visitors, seemed to hold our breath.....and talked only in whispers.
Peace and blessings to you.
Eloquently said. The museum is a necessary pierce to the heart, especially for younger generations who are not taught history today, so that it is never allowed to be repeated, because otherwise it shall be. Rewritten history of today actually lays the same ground work for trouble coming.
Normalcy bias is a term, but what it means is very real as the Jewish experience attests.
Just remember to hold onto that faith no matter the amount of misery, fear, violence and death we must suffer under.
For I myself learned that such bold faith now in times of plenty - evaporates pretty quick when misery, sickness and fear is relentless and continuous.
We have no experience with the kind of suffering and persecution most of our brethren in the third world suffer and much of our theology is built on a prosperity doctrine that is as false as a 3 dollar bill. Yet all of us are infected with those ideas at some level, because we were blessed to be Americans and we have had a hedge or protection and prosperity around us.
All that they can do is kill me. They cannot kill my soul because it is GOD’s to do with as he pleases. I appreciate your words of great wisdom and may GOD bless you for them.
Your greatest threat to your faith is going to come from yourself. When you suffer misery, hunger, sickness and watch those you love suffer and get beaten/arrested or killed - just about everything you assumed about being a Christian gets tossed up into doubt and every emotion you have will be tested to it’s breaking point. You begin to get angry with God.
We have no experience with suffering such things when persecution and privation become institutionalized by society and the ruling classes.
But it’s something we need to be mindful of when opposing evil and living as we should in a society declining into wickedness and tyranny.
I got just a small taste of that - and I nearly lost my faith.
While I appreciate your sentiment, it is precisely the fact that so many 0n the right have taken to treating this whole mess as some kind of game/intellectual exercise/ gradeschool cutdown contest, rather than the dire situation it has become that has cemented my decision to make better use of my efforts. To the point, repeating the same correct/true/accurate/proven and historically defined to people that are determined to stomp their feet and bull on with the same stupidity that got us into this mess would be the perfect example of Einstein’s definition of insanity.
To spring off your ‘take the ball and go home’ analogy, look at it this way. We decided to play baseball but the catcher, shortstop and center fielder decided that they arent sure which team they are on and the manager decided to let them sort it out amongst themselves.
Doesn’t sound like a path to victory to me.
And who said I was going home? contrary to groupthink, while FR has historically done much for the conservative cause, it ain’t the first or only rodeo on the circuit.
A group of people here are determined to maintain the status quo and in their own words “vote Republican no matter what”. Well, the facts show that pro abortion candidates were OK. Liars were OK. Statists were OK. Corrupt and compromised in the extreme candidates were OK.
And that merely describes the last presidential candidate. No Really.
Now personally, I don’t consider people who continue to support that with the “no matter what” attitude to be on ‘my team’. And it’s high time that each person here had a sitdown with their conscience and personal beliefs and see if all that squares up.
Lastly, I am a big believer in Alexander Hamilton’s ideas about where people like that should be. And it isn’t on my team.
Before I first came to FR in 98, I wasn’t a Freeper. And once this is all said and done I won’t be. None of which means I am taking my ball and going home. But it does mean I will have lots more time to work with people who believe as I do rather than fighting endlessly with idiots over the most basic concept of what conservativism and principle actually mean.
The mere fact that this thread exists is proof positive we have collectively lost our way. I intend to help find it again. And that cannot be done fighting half the supposed team.
I have experienced some of what you talk about and I know that I am just a man and full of emotion and the illogic of anger. I also know that turning the other cheek does not mean that we have to let the Lions eat us. I pray for strength every day.

No..we act in faith, knowing that our ultimate help comes from God the father! God won’t necessarily help someone who helps himself if the goal of that individual is simply to “help himself”!
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might as unto the Lord” Proverbs
We fail when we forget God. These nations are after all “drops in a bucket” and God is always raising them up and pulling them down. God may often help in a collective fashion but each individual’s salvation is his or her own, purchased by the blood of Christ!
Christians are to pray for their temporal government and leaders...but we must never forget where are “true nation” is located!
Because as Speaker of the House, his caucus is the United States of America. Ohioans elect him but his spinelessness has helped sell my unborn grandchildren into debt slavery.
So when I've got something to say to him, I damn well expect him to listen.
“God wont necessarily help someone who helps himself if the goal of that individual is simply to help himself!”
The point here is not to help ourselves for the sake of feeling good about it so I am unsure if you are just being contrary for the sake of it or if you think quoting the Bible out of context somehow adds to the discussion.
My understanding of God, as much as any human can be said to understand God, is that he frowns mightily on things like liars, abortion, greed, backstabbing, theft, tyranny...you know, all the things the GOP is helping the Dems do and taking part in it themselves.
I also understand we are commanded to oppose these things. So when you set aside all the peripherial stuff, we are indeed acting Biblically, conforming to his will and all the good parts. We are not helping ourselves as an attempt to buy our way into heaven.
I respectfully disagree. As Speaker, Boehner is accountable to the House Republicans who put him there. If they don't like what he's doing, they can replace him.
Ohioans elect him but his spinelessness has helped sell my unborn grandchildren into debt slavery.
Personally, I blame the Republicans who elected him Speaker.
Fair ball. However, there are certain representatives, in leadership in both parties, who drive the national debate. They can, and in my opinion should, be held to a higher degree of scrutiny.
Hee hee!
