After watching this video, I don't think I want a new diesel pickup... After sharing with my dad, he is ready to dump all of his shares in Ford... and in the end I think I will just rebuild my 1991 Jetta diesel that has 319k on it.
Can I just get a vehicle with crank-down windows please?

Buy it in Mexico. Manual transmissions, crank-down windows, manual locks, AM only radio. New cars are just like in 1969.
Seriously.
All the big manufacturers do indeed offer stripped work pickups with crank windows, though one might be hard to find.
Up here in Maine, the idiots super-salt the roads and kill our vehicles with rust.
My advice to folks up here is; go to some other state (South, Midwest) and get the vintage vehicle of your choice, bring it back here, do a complete teardown and re-drivetrain.
Epoxy paint or otherwise rustproof the undercarriage/frame and register it as an antique ($50).
In your case, other than the age, I’d suggest a Ram2500 with the Cummins diesel.
You probably don’t even have to go anywhere to find a good solid one.
And by the way, if you do decide to go that route, you can get either a used or reman. VW diesel engine from the VW Parts Place in Plains MI....
