“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others”
This is never going to work as long as the law of the land is enforced randomly. Since the law does not apply to lawmakers, why should anyone else obey?
That is indeed part of their failure. Nobody can or will follow anyone who lacks the courage to lead.
