People today take way to seriously "games".
I understand rooting for the local or your favorite team. I understand the fun of rooting against the opposing team. But this is all supposed to be about having fun.
But people getting angry about this???
Most people don't have ownership in a team. Most people aren't players on the team. Most people don't have any form of skin in the game.
They sit in their seats at the stadium or their sofas at home, slurp soda or gulp beer, stuff their faces with hotdogs and popcorn, pretzels and burgers, WHILE OTHERS do all the work running on a field or court. They go into hysterics when a player from "their" team scores, like they did it themselves. Then they get mad when things don't go their way.
Fanatic (full use of the word Fan)-a person filled with excessive and single-minded zeal.
This reminds me of the incident in which an Alabama fan poisoned some old oak trees that were a favorite gathering spot in Auburn. Some people take sports way too seriously. Considering the way Alabama lost that game, I think the victim who tried to make light of it had the better attitude.
I was born in Alabama (have lived in Texas since 1969) and my family members who still live there must have taken the loss hard. But in the end, it's just a game. These jerk fans are only going to give the school a bad reputation.
