Where’s Bloomy?

While Gov. Cuomo, NYPD commissioner Ray Kelly and FDNY commissioner Sal Cassano rushed to the deadly Metro-North crash in the Bronx, lame duck Mayor Bloomberg was nowhere to be found.

It took five hours for Bloomberg’s office to tweet: “Thoughts and prayers with those impacted by today’s train derailment. If you are looking for a loved one who was onboard, call 311.”

It’s not known where Bloomberg was on Sunday morning, and City Hall staffers declined to reveal their boss’ whereabouts.

I am no fan of Bloomberg, but it’s just stupid to expect politicians to show up at the scene of an accident unless they’re the Prime Minister of Australia and actually help put out the fire.

I think it’s the local trains that are the problem. As a kid, I rode NJ transit from Manhattan to New Brunswick every damned day. We had endless problems in the 70s. We would always have to stop to let you Amtrak guys through, lol! That still goes on today!

That’s not how it works in NYC. He should have been there. Or at least on the phone with reporters. He doesn’t care because he is not going to be mayor for another term, the illegal creep.

You’re right! It was fairly early in the morning! And there was not one peep from him. And I listened from about 8am to about 2pm! The future awaits.

My Great Uncle died on a dive boat in Bimini in 1972. He had his own diving company. Sorry that just reminded me of him. I never met him but I have his pictures. Anyway it must be beautiful I never was in Bimini but I cruised past in when I was in visited the Bahamas on the Norwegian Gem.

Heh. I had a monthly pass on either, and if we got a heavy snow or rain, the trains just stopped until the electric dried-out. MM, that truly sucked after I’d taken the 11:58pm Conrail our of Penn Station and we’d just stop dead for hours. I could catch Amtrak 10-15x/ mo, but the majority of trains were Conrail cars.

Had those Rail Cars gone into the Water, there would have been hundreds Dead. Things could have been a lot worse.

“Anyway it must be beautiful I never was in Bimini “

The island is beautiful and the diving is great. But, it’s a third world sh*t hole full of people who acted poorly to us. A man came up to sell us pot as we got off the boat. The captain screamed “No! For God’s sake! They’ll arrest you and bleed your family for cash. You’ll spend months in the jail here.” Later he said, “if you want pot I’ll get if for you.” We were mostly from Honeywell and had classified jobs.

Did you ever get stuck in the horrible Penn Station at midnight when all the trains went out? It was the story of my youth! I’ve never forgiven NJ Transit for the horrible memories of Penn Station rest rooms.

Sound awful I didn’t like the Bahamas it was seedy. I like the Island of Great Stirrup Kay that was beautiful.

That's not how it works anywhere in this country. It's stupid -- no matter how much a creep Bloomberg is. Does it really matter to you if your elected politicians "care"?

They don't care.

Governor Gun-Grabber showed up. I can assure you that he doesn't care.

A combo of Ted Bundy and Chico Marx - I love it! He actually sounds exactly like his father - the awful Mario, who was so enamored of the town of Albany that he wouldn’t accept a Supreme Court position. Thank God for that!

Oh, come on! Do you really think the guy is in shul while 4 people lie dead? He’s in Bermuda as he is every weekend. This happened several years ago when we had a blizzard and he cleared the streets of his neighborhood (the upper east side) while sunning in the Caribbean. Let’s get real about this guy.
