There is, *on the other hand,* a good, as in something better is possible, for the individual; and *then,* taking the sum of the individuals, there may be a “greater” (as in breadth of) good.

Ever been to Pennsylvania? How about Massachusetts? Kentucky? Virginia? They’re not states. They’re ‘commonwealths’. Their founding fathers believed in the ‘common good’, hence the name ‘commonwealth’.
