Dwayne Stovall Files to Challenge John Cornyn in Texas Republican Senate Primary
yourhoustonnews.com ^ | 11/18/13 | Community Reports

Dwayne Stovall, a small businessman from Liberty County, formally filed his application to be on the ballot as a U.S. Senate candidate opposing current Senator John Cornyn in the Republican primary on Tuesday, March 4, 2014.

Stovall released the following statement on the morning of Monday, Nov. 18:

“It’s time for the citizens of Texas to be represented by one of their own, a citizen statesman, rather than by a Washington-based elitist who serves special interests that are in opposition to the interests of Texas and its good citizens.”

“The Constitutional role of a United States Senator from the Lone Star State is to put the best interests of Texas first.”

“During his tenure in the United States Senate, the federal government has continued to relentlessly encroach on the rights of Texas and Texans. When John Cornyn went to Washington as our senator 11 years ago, the federal deficit was $6 trillion. Today, it’s $17 trillion, almost triple.”

“It’s time for that to stop. It’s time to represent Texas in Washington, DC, and it’s time for the citizens of Texas to be represented by one of them, a citizen statesman, rather than by the nationalist interests of the elites in Washington.”

“My campaign will not be won with establishment money. I’ve traveled across Texas and spoken to thousands of Texans throughout the year. They are fired up at the idea of having two senators representing them in Washington, DC, who believe in the Constitution and America’s founding principles.”

“Federalism, Republicanism, and limited government — these are sorely lacking from Sen. Cornyn’s voting record. I have stepped forward to unapologetically advocate for the values of Texans and for putting Texas first. “

Have you seen any info on the other potential candidates, Wyatt and Vega? They have
talked about getting into the race but I haven’t seen where they have filed to do so.

Future generations of Texans are being sentenced into servitude to a bankrupt unconstitutional National Government (not federal) that is becoming more tyrannical by the day. The founding principle of liberty is being destroyed by the very people we have entrusted to protect it and we cannot afford to stand by any longer. If you will have me I will gladly take up the fight, but I will need your help to do so.

In liberty,

Dwayne Stovall
Texan 1st

Doesn't matter that he's not well known. Neither was Cruz until the primary. Stovall is someone to vote for in the primary that isn't Cornyn, and lots of folks are looking for that right now.

I note that Wyatt's website has "Linda Vega just joined." posted on the right margin.

You’ve got that right. I like what I’ve read, now we need to reserve some time, from him, to meet us, personally. He sounds good, I’d like to see him in person. Being a businessman rather than a lawyer, is good to see.
Cornyn is professional politician and will go with the flow and the money. nuff said.

Visit Stovall's website and read his position statements. He sounds solid to me. For instance, on the second Amendment:

Today, because of unconstitutional misinterpretations by 20th century supreme court judges, the federal Bill of Rights is constantly being violated by the Federal Government. I suggest everyone reread the Preamble to the Bill of Rights. The members of the 1st Congress did not mince words:

"THE Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of ITS powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution." (emphasis added [by DS])

Let us be clear; the Federal Government has no authority under the Constitution --NONE-- to involve itself in any area restricted under the Bill of Rights. So when it comes to guns, they are not to infringe, no matter what the Supreme Court has unconstitutionally ruled to the contrary.

Stovall is not plugged in to the big money machine so will need lots of individual supporters. If you want to get rid of the RINO who brought us "Republican" Senate candidates such as Arlen Specter - Democrat, Charlie Crist - Democrat, Lincoln Chafee - Democrat, and Lisa Murkowski - Independent, then Stovall needs your Support.

Support Dwayne Stovall to oust John Cornyn in TX

I'd be willing to vote for almost anyone who actually knows that there is a preamble to the bill of rights.

Hmmm...to support...or keep up with?

Hoping Stovall or Wyatt can get the traction needed to oust Cornpone.

The info is sparse at best it seems. The Tx SOS website shows that only
Cornyn and Mapp have filed as of today. Yet Wyatt says he has based upon
the link you have. So who knows at this time. I find nothing on Vega yet.

https://webservices.sos.state.tx.us/candidate-filing/cf-report.aspx

You have to select Travis County from the list as Austin is where they have
to file for the primary.

The Texas GOP website with filings says that Stovall has filed also:

Thanks and take care

We probably have to call the SOS for updated filings.

At some point they will get them all in. A candidate may have filed but the
State hasn’t accepted the filing for some reason. The TxGOP website indicates
that on their listing of filings.
