This happened several years ago. I remember hearing it played many times. I'm glad Larry finally uploaded it.

Bill Maher has got to be one of the most disgusting people on the planet.
Just my opinion of course.

Was Bill Maher hawking a book at the time that nobody wanted to read?
Just wondering why he went on Larry’s show.

Bill Maher has got to be one of the most disgusting people on the planet.I have friends and former friends who see him as a font of wisdom. I see him as John Stewart Daily Show for the older set. And he is smarmy, oleaginous and disgusting. Not to difficult to see through.

He is, as Johan Goldberg once said, a Socialist Libertine.
Maybe I should remove the caps on that!

He is 90% liberal and 10% libertarian. But he knows it sounds cooler to say you are a libertarian...so this is what he does and he makes millions doing so and pulls in his young girlfriends. Why would he change his ways?

Maher is a “big government” libertarian. ;-)
To: EveningStar
Bill Maher is a big-government libertine, and is too stupid to distinguish between that and libertarian.

Libertarianism says the Federal Gov't is too big.
Has Maher ever said that in any way, shape, or form?
To: what's up
I have a brother in law like Maher, but not quite a disgusting - definitely a Leftist Libertine.

Bill supports Cap and Trade; and Gun Control.
To: Skepolitic
The only thing Maher is "libertarian" about is pot smoking and utilizing prostitutes.
Besides that he's a die-hard leftist kook.
He's even more leftist than Jon Stewart.
And that takes some doing.

If you looked at all the positions of the practitioners of various political ideologies, there would be an intersection on a number of issues and beliefs. For instance, I'm sure many hardcore leftists and Reagan-style conservatives believe eating fresh, home-grown vegetables is better for you than store-bought veggies.
But from listening to Maher's positions on the issues over the years, he certainly doesn't sound like a libertarian. Maher appears to love big government. I doubt you'd find a single real libertarian who would cheer big government. In fact, most libertarians on this board are probably more anti-government than conservative Pubbies. In short, Maher is no libertarian. He's more like a typical limousine liberal who loves humanity but hates people.
To: EveningStar
Larry Elder doesn’t want to see - and doesn’t want anyone else to see - where libertarianism leads. So he tells Bill Maher to keep quiet.
