The House easily passed Republican legislation on Friday allowing insurers to keep offering old insurance plans for another year in response to President Barack Obamas broken if you like it, you can keep it promise.

I’m thinking the same thing, BUT let’s think this thru...It looks very unlikely that this will pass the Senate or even come up for a vote...so the public should equate the republicans with trying to do something about this trainwreck.
Secondly, I think this vindicates Ted Cruz big time. He started the debate, he made it clear where he and other conservatives stood on this issue.
Had he not come out, the debate would not have been as focused. IMHO.
There is no way, except with huge House Democratic support (which didn’t happen) Harry Reid will take this up in the Senate. House GOP looks like they tried to fix it for real, and Dem’s stood in their way, once again.
Very low risk maneuver, but looks like we’re trying to help. Only help is repeal.
Come’on Ted Cruz. Let’s see the plan!
It's precisely what the STUPID Party always does.
They will be lucky if he holds true to his word and veto's it.
agreed.
The campaign ads will write themselves...I totally disagree with the “trap” angle. This is setting the house dims up so they cannot lie in 2 or 4 years saying they really were against this nightmare. And believe me...they’ll regret they didn’t vote for this.
Only at the national level. At the red state congressional level, these 39 democrats have just been given cover.
To the casual observer it makes Obama look weak.
In 2014, the Dems will need a lot more than the Upton bill for cover.
A vulnerable incumbent should be crushed with the full weight of the Obamacare debacle.
Deathcare doesn’t need to he fixed. It needs to be gone.
the Liberals present some big government idea and the GOP runs in says no no we can do it better and more cheaply.
they let the premise go and it becomes accepted.
how many Republicans do you think nowadays we have a cow if someone suggested repealing completely the income tax?
My guess is an asston.
Excuse Me ?
Nothing is going to come out of the House or Senate that 0bama will sign.
This is all “optics”, for both parties.
0bama has committed himself to blaming the insurance companies for “making changes” and “he tried” to fix it, but he is not going to scrap the law for “political” reasons.
The narrative has already been written.
I stated a number of weeks ago that the insurance companies have been gamed. They bought into a crony system that assured them they would get a boat load of new higher paying customers and the government would make sure that would happen.
Baby steps..
I know Broun has his own bill for repeal. I havent taken the time to look it up, but he talked a little about it on a townhall conference call last night. He also took poll of the 5000 of us.
Fix
Repeal
Leave as is
Repeal obamacare got more than 90% of the vote.
What we have to hope for is that those who voted FOR the Obamacare fix also voted FOR ObamaCare.
I want to repeal ObamaCare and unfortunately, this gives time to “FIX” it.
They’ll fix nothing. This will give them time to run a deception/guilt campaign making all those losing their policies get identified as Adolf Hitler for wanting to kill poor people.
My experience says that the democrats control the media and that the people will believe them more often than not. So, with this simple vote supporting “keep it if you like it”, they have laid the groundwork for an entire series of ads and talking points that will support them on every network, in every newspaper, and on a huge number of websites.
Wait and see.
I reject both premises
I won’t accept the GOP’s baby steps toward socialism.
Nor well I accept the Democrats great leap forward.
If Boehner were smart (and he’s repeatedly demonstrated he isn’t), before ANY bill is even brought up that might save the dems’ bacon, he should force Reid to pass a budget.
Because his wife wants to go to the DC cocktail parties.
“Why are these idiot Republicans trying to save this train wreck?”
EXACTLY!
When there’s an impending train wreck, you stay clear of it. Stupid GOP.
