This is just an attempt to make the insurance companies deny coverage and make them the bad guys which will take the heat off the White Hut.

That was my first thought when I heard his announcement. It also has the added benefit of giving the Dems one or two talking points.

Dems were getting slaughtered by the MSM. They had no talking-point rejoinders. Obama tried to give them one: I'm saying again---and I really mean it this time---you can keep it if you like it (with caveats).

Andy McCarthy: "Obama might as well just say: You can keep your BetaMax if you like it."

I have not heard ONE commentator or talking head point out that Obama just made another promise he knows he can't keep, BUT he does know that just by issuing his new edict, he can shift the blame and change the conversation. He had to do this in advance of the "you can keep it" bills in the House and Senate to keep control. Divine fiat trumps a new "corrective" ObamaCare law.

IMO, these bills are bad bills, but Obama is worried nevertheless. I agree with Levin:

In Jr HS, after we’d learned Morse Code in the BSA, we’d pass notes and drive the regular teachers crazy. Shop teacher was a WWII Navy radio transmitter and knew exactly what we were saying/doing.
