THE Anthem Blue Cross representative who answered my call told me that there was a silver lining in the cancellation of my individual P.P.O. policy and the $5,400 annual increase that I would have to pay for the Affordable Care Act-compliant option: now if I have Stage 4 cancer or need a sex-change operation, Id be covered regardless of pre-existing conditions. Never mind that the new provider network would eliminate coverage for my and my sons long-term doctors and hospitals.
The Anthem rep cheerily explained that despite the companys I paraphrase draconian rates and limited network, my benefits, which also include maternity coverage (handy for a 46-year-old), would be actually much richer.
I, of course, would be actually much poorer. And it was this aspect of the bum deal that, to my surprise, turned out to be a very unpopular thing to gripe about.
Obamacare or Kafkacare? I posted on Facebook as soon as I hung up with Anthem....

LOL! Outstanding.
The address in the URL box has a typo.
(Joe Biden was one of the early ones into the program...)
The comment section is truly frightening. They do not have a single original, critical thought.
Oh, I don’t know:
poetikus Missouri
The smugness of those attacking Ms. Gottlieb as somehow being not fully human for not wanting to shell over thousands of dollars more a year for less care says all you need to know as to why this country still has U6 unemployment in the teens and economic stagnation not seen in decades.
Mandating “charity” may assuage the guilt of shallow souls but true charity comes from the individual, from the heart, with true meaning and caring, it does not originate in the cubicles at HHS.
Obamacare does nothing to lower the cost curve, does nothing to bring control back to the patient, limits access, ignores the need for tort reform (yep, dems still love their trial lawyers), reduces the amount and effectiveness of personal health savings accounts, raises taxes on everything from medical devices to selling a home, and in the end, even the CBO states it will still leave tens of millions “uninsured”.
The fact that so many still defending the hype of a program that at its core is more about control of the individual than affordable, accessible healthcare speaks volumes of the current level of ignorance and lack of critical thought running rampant through American society today.
Thanks very much for the suggestion...I have never seen it, and just went on Netflix where I can stream it. Too late tonight, but will watch it tomorrow! (always looking for suggestions from Freepers for movies, especially older movies. Don't watch as many new ones anymore...)
That’s awesome. So accurate.
Ok that was one comment out of how many?
LOL...2ndDivisionVet does have a point, that WAS a good comment posted, but...to be honest, I never read comments in those places, ever. I find more critical thinking and insight in the comments at YouTube videos, if you know what I mean!
I read them because sometimes they surprise me!
... That's a quote. I read most of this, but kind of petered out at the end. Very fitting, I concluded. It is very affecting ... dreamlike.
In my teens I tried twice to read The Trial but couldn’t do it. Just too tedious for me. But The Metamorphosis easily held my interest. The Castle sounds like it fits our time very well.
I find it markedly humorless, joking now about a sex change operation.
These benevolent people cannot be seriously planning for their own retirements, their own unforeseen obstacles. I mean do they think nothing bad can happen to them? Do they just expect people to support them when they need it?
Where IS this in our constitution?
One judge decides our fate as a country? And these people think the gimme stuffs are more deserving than hword working people?
I’m not talking about legitimate hard luck cases, that’s another subject.
These people don’t have enough of a grip to do a little research to find out the truth about whether people are receiving their donations.
AND she says Obama is asking her to donate. Really? Can we answer no? No, so he is NOT asking.
They are not even in touch with the truth.
Brilliant comment, 2DV. You probably haven’t, but you really should have posted that in the comments section at the NYT article.
That’s the sort of reasoned analysis that wakes up those who are close to seeing the light.
It wasn’t that long ago the CRA and capital risk allowances trashed the Country’s lending and insurance backbone. It happened because dirtbags were given the greenlight to lend irresponsibly to irresponsible people.
ACA - same shit different day.
# the Marxists!
Pride will prevent her and her colleagues from admitting that we on the right had Obamacare pegged all along.
I sure wasn’t joking when I asked if this thing paid for a sex change operation.
If it does it is an even further abomination. Mutilating someone’s privates is as crazy as cutting off their arms because of mental illness.
That is exactly what sex change is—insanity.
Another good one!
But the typo in the URL is still there: Obam a scare.gov
