Dear FTD, thank you posting this news report about google doing a video tour map of Arlington National Cemetery.

Fellow Freepers, please disseminate this to your friends so that they know that they can do a virtual visit to Arlington National Cemetery.

ANC has a downloadable app — just go to their website. My parents and other relatives buried there, so I use a good bit. Also, the VA has a grave locator for VA & National cemeteries. They're working on vets buried in other cemeteries.

Just found the cemetery where my late father, a coast guard who served during WW 2, is buried, up in Maine.

I hope they include everyone, especially since a relative of mine is not in the govt database, yet is buried there (and has a headstone).

I don’t like a lot about google, but I must say they do have some great products.

I use their maps exclusively. I like how I first can get a regular map and then a earth map. When traveling to unknown places it helps to visualize what the place looks like before I get there.

Some records were destroyed in a fire at the St. Louis record center in 1973. My record was among those destroyed. Fortunately for me, my record was still on file and retrievable in D.C., that’s where your relative’s record might be found.

My uncle, SFC Homer I May, has a headstone at Arlington. He is missing in action and was awarded a DSC for his action in Korea.
