If robots were really the answer, somebody would make one without a government grant.
“...evelop relatively small, inexpensive robots to aid in harvesting ...”
I thought the purpose of providing illegal aliens to the farm community was to do this.
Whatever it costs it’s worth it.
Compared to the cost of having armies of illegal aliens in the fields of Northern California, and their gang banger anchor babies tearing apart the schools and the streets, it’s nothing.
10 million would be dirt cheap.
PS
Jerry Brown killed state funding for this 38 years ago at the insistence of Saint Chavez and the Brown Berets de Aztlan.
That’s why it has to be Federal funding.
God forbid Jerry’s Kids wouldn’t be able to have a job here.
I go INSIDE my banks to make sure folks will have a job. I like to hear....Hi...Can I help you??
doing the job americans wont
priceless
Yaknow, some times, new technologies just make sense..
Monsanto is way ahead on this. They have genetically engineered strawberries with their own little arms that when ripe pluck themselves off the vine, hip hop themselves over to the tray and hop in.
Would have already been developed without government money had only the the government done what one of their essential purposes is . . . seal the borders.
Of course the Chamber of Commerce and GOP-e are fine with open borders, low wages for AMERICAN workers AND government expenditures on projects.

Just doing the jobs illegal immigrants won’t do. err, or something.
Mexican robots picking the strawberries American robots won’t do.
The best robot to aid in strawberry picking would be one that provided in-field back massages to the pickers.
The United Farm Workers will try to organize the robots.
