BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Deadly diseases, once nearly wiped out, are making a frightening comeback in Maryland and across the country. Now — a warning that parents who don’t vaccinate their children are putting others at risk.

Linh Bui explores an alarming and controversial trend.

Measles, mumps, whooping cough — all deadly diseases. Until recently — virtually eliminated thanks to vaccines that prevent kids from getting sick.

But now doctors see an alarming trend — more and more people are coming down with these diseases.

“Kids die from measles on a regular basis. Kids are in hospitals and can die from whooping cough very commonly. So these kids are at risk,” said Dr. Scott Krugman, Chairman, Department of Pediatrics, MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center.

A lot of people don’t get the shot and don’t get the flu. I used to get the flu nearly every year. After I started getting the shot about ten years ago, the only time I got it was last January. And I work in a nursing home so I am at greater risk for getting it and passing it to others.

As I remember when polio was out there before the vaccine, parents did not know how it was spread so we were just kept at home except for school.

I don’t think any of us will be signing up for Key Club this year.

“Open borders has destroyed it all.”

It wasn’t just open borders. Goofy US parents decided that the vaccinations were more a risk than the diseases. They need to feel uber guilty when their children contract them.

Rand Paul’s immigration speech
03.19.13 | Hon Sen Rand Paul (KY)
Posted on 03/19/2013 7:04:07 AM PDT by Perdogg

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let’s start that conversation by acknowledging we aren’t going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.
[but he’s not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]

People ruining our country right now never feel any guilt. They always think they are right. Even if their child was dying from one of these diseases, they would never admit they were wrong. That is what we are dealing with.

Give or take some dingbat Luddite like Jenny McCarthy preferring the substantial risk of death or disability from NOT getting their children vaccinated over the vanishingly small risk of actual (rather than imaginary) side effects of the vaccines...

Thanks ilovesarah2012.

In the 1990s, 40% of the population of China carried TB; that number probably hasn’t improved with age, other than the deaths of the most serious cases. Hepatitis can be encountered, and most healthy people will clear the infection just via their immune systems, in which case it would only be diagnosed by accident. C used to be called “non-A, non-B”, eventually got identified; the D and E strains are similarly new ones, and rare.

That’s interesting about Leprosy, apparently there’s a vaccine for it now:

My sister had polio when she was 5 yo. She was left paralyzed by it for the rest of her life. She lived to be 59. RIP. That’s a long time to be disabled. Polio is a terrible disease.

I research and lecture on the problems with vaccines. Here is just one article on their ineffectiveness:
